"Billy, no! You can't die! Please, dont...."
Pleas reached his ears and faded away into nothingness as his mind slowly faded to black. His power hummed throughout his body, which now seemed to stretch into eternity. All doubt, fear, and anger slipped away as he reached a moment of sublime bliss. Thoughts of all the things he accomplished and would have accomplished filled his mind. He was in perfect peace. Time lost all meaning as he floated in the dark ocean that was death, unseeing, unhearing, riding an unending wave of euphoria.
But, it seemed for the boy, that life wasn't ready for him to go yet. The sea of peace bagan to rock, and his power amplified from a hum to a roar, and before he knew it, he was being lifted off of the tides and thrown into the colorful and turbulent world that was life. His power singed as it came into contact with its catalyst once again, the cells of the universe his to control how he pleased. He started using his power, to shift the tides, make storms, be a god. Soon, though, this being that had once been Billy Kaplan began to run into problems. Disturbances in the stream of time really, rips in the fabric of reality that needed to be repaired. He tried to mend them, but found he couldn't. Not alone, at least.
He came to a decision, then. He needed to return, come bak to the physical plane. He shifted streams, used his power as much as he could, rearranging cells, creating false memories, new people, a disguise for himself to wear when he lost this power and returned. Someone just like he was. He picked a name, a ghistory, a place. And then he did it.
The entity once known as Billy Kaplan fell through the ethereal planes between life and death, through fire and water, earth and air, relinquishing all he once commanded. He destroyed his memories, he was no longer the entity, nor Billy Kaplan, but something new.
