Open to those who have reason to be there. I may be looking at you, Sir Nathan. ;)
Things had gotten better between Peter and his brother. They were talking at least, unlike the dark month of December when Peter's power and self imposed hermit ways and Nathan's anger at him had kept them in their separate corners. The gap was only breached because of Christmas and Peter was eighty percent sure because Nathan hadn't seen Claire in a while. If he didn't see her, then she didn't exist and Peter wasn't dating a minor. But she did and he was and he knew better then to force Nathan to accept it by now. It was best for everyone if he let Nathan just ignore the entire situation.
Peter himself couldn't ignore it since he lived with the girl and he'd never been able to achieve Nathan's level of apathy. He needed to talk to someone about it. Hell, just to talk to someone about life in general. Life clearly meaning Claire, his power, school, and work in that order and how each one had been turned on its head within two months.
Talking to Claire wasn't the best option. He had no doubt that she was a good listener and that she'd be able to give him some good advice but she was right in the middle of the whole mess. He couldn't see it clearly, so that meant she couldn't either. He needed someone from the sidelines.
Nathan was out. For the first time since Peter could talk, he didn't feel comfortable talking to his brother about anything going on in his life. Well, maybe his job and he might be brave enough to bring up the fact that he was no longer in school (but thinking of going back) but the rest of it? Nope. Not one word could be said to Nathan.
His mom was out too. And all of his friends since none of these people knew about his ability and the less he talked about Claire with his mom or his friends, the better.
That left Heidi. Peter liked Heidi. She was good for his brother and even if she hadn't married into the family, he still would've stayed friends with her because she was cool and he needed to get out more if he was using the word cool to describe people.
Peter rung the doorbell and peered up at the house in front of him as he adjusted the small messenger bag on his shoulder. He'd come straight to Nathan and Heidi's house after work which meant that he had some very basic nursing supplies inside and one of his old textbooks to browse while Charles was sleeping.
He should've called but it was a Tuesday afternoon. Hopefully Heidi wouldn't be busy.
