It wasn't so say that she didn't miss her husband, but funerals could be so dreary and mourning even more so. Her sons barely had time for their mother, even if she was alone and really, could she expect any different? They loved her enough to give her space and grieve discreetly in their own homes. She should've been proud of them for it - after all, she'd taught them all they knew. Well, she and their teachers and tutors and such.

Whatever small part of guilt lingered within her was quickly swept away by boredom. Insincere condolences plagued her every phone call and tea party since the event, and when even her house could no longer hide her from concerned, well-meaning friends, Angela retreated to those parts of New York where her kind rarely set foot.

It was how she found herself in Franks' G-Strings and Sympathy, sipping a martini.

Oh Lord.
