POLITICS

This is seriously one of the most hilarious stand-up acts I've ever seen.

And while we're on the topic of politics, the whole election fever has snuck up on me and I've taken to thinking about certain issues concerning, or rather, afflicting our local political scene.

Like how I don't know which is more worrying: that our electorate seems more interested in a candidate's personality rather than the policies he/she is representing, or that our opposition parties are either A) deluded/inept enough to believe that the support they're receiving is due to the policies that they're pushing for, or B) are more than happy to try and ride this wave of popularity into parliament, where their populist measures will simply destroy the Parliament and our country. First World Parliament my ass. Give me a first world government any day, one that isn't interested in putting forth popular, vote-winning initatives. An election is, ironically enough, not a popularity vote.

Another thing: could we please do away with the idiotic fist-pumping and chest-thumping at rallies. I swear, everytime I watch a rally on TV, someone's fist is pumping the air or waving feebly, as if they feel the need to throw in some whoopie-hurrah to lift their limp speeches. If we can do away with the fist-pumping, I'd say we've taken a step towards that "First World Parliament" (see how I keep returning to it? It's honestly very stupid) that the opposition has been clamouring for.

And to end this politically-enlightened and engaged post, to all Singaporeans 21 and above who are reading this: VOTE WISELY. For your sake. Or, if it helps, for mine. I mean, I don't want to have to migrate because the opposition wins an incredible number of seats. I like Singapore and the way it is, thank you very much.

I HATE BOAT ROCKING!
