Monthly Update the uhm.. twentieth?

Mar 23, 2013 17:01

I'm just over 20 months in, so if I did actually did an update every month, it would have been the 20th.

So let's start with the good news. I have found some work as a nanny. It's only for like 10 hours a week, and on flexible days too. So, it's nothing mayor, but at least I'll be doing something and I will have some sort of income. The family I'll be working for seemed very nice and laidback, so hopefully it will work out. Obviously I'll be searching for other things aswell, but at least I feel like the pressure's of a little bit.

I told my parents aswell, but they were not at all impressed. I know it's not much, but I guess it was too much to ask for them to be a little bit happy for me. I'll guess I'll just have to learn to live with it, because realistically I don't see myself moving anytime soon. Unless some sort of miracle happens.

I've also been paying of some of my student loans. Not by free will though. I don't know how they calculate this, but apparently I'll be paying of about a 100 euros every month, because that's what they think I can spare? I don't know where that comes from, but what can I do. I'm thinking of selling my shareholds to be able to pay of a big amount at once, but I'll have to look into that some more.

I've started an online course in norwegian. I'm on chapter 4 out of 10 and it's pretty cool! The chapters always start of pretty easy, because you have to just read and listen to a bit of story and I'm always able to understand it. I'm like, this is cool, I can speak Norwegian! But as soon as I have to construct a sentence of my own I'm just completely clueless. Anyway, I'm going to fill in a new goal which is going to be: Finish the Norwegian course! And obviously to be able do it succesfully.

And I've thought of another goal aswell, which is reduce my showering time. I'm pretty good at being environmental concious. Obviously I'm not perfect and I don't want to be. But I'm pretty good when it comes to not wasting things, not putting the heating on too high, not using plastic bags, trying to eat as much locally sourced food. But when it comes to taking showers I'm horrible. I usually shower in the morning and sometimes I can just stand there for minutes and minutes, just not being quite awake yet and I'm very aware of the fact that's a lot of water going to waste. I know it's nice to have a long hot shower every now and then, but I just want to cut down in my average showering time. Even if it's just by a minute.

I've also finally started to make something out of my Masala cookbook. Now I got this book from a friend, because they call me Masala. It's a pretty cool book, but I've never made anything of it, because it's a bit cumbersome. In the beginning of the book there's recipe's for different kinds of masala's (red masala, green masala, three spice masala and warm masala.) And then each recipe will contain a tablespoon or teaspoon of at least 2 of the masala's. So before you start on a dish you'll have to make the masala's first. So this week I made the warm masala. Spend about an hour grinding up spices, but now I have a whole batch that will keep me going for now. Now all i have to do is make one of other masala's and I'm good to go!

Result!

That's it for this month. Onwards and upwards!
