He just loves playing pranks and having fun, often at the expense of others, but the pain he causes is always out of jest, not hatred. Bringing the Frost Giants into Asgard was just a bit of fun to ruin his brother’s big day. Everything Loki did before and after was simply for fun. Of course, not everyone in Asgard saw the funny side of igniting a war between the Frost Giants again, but humour was what you make it, and Loki’s main aim had been achieved.

It’s during the fight at Jotunheim that the first flashbacks come to Loki. They floor him with images of his friends laughing at him. Of him being alone in his room, confused, questioning, feeling broken. He looks down at his arm, turning it as the blue disappears before his eyes. The blue seems to fade slower than the memories. Loki is still with the tidal wave of emotion that’s just hit him. Thankfully, he’s Frost Giant opponent is also rooted with confusion. Loki quickly recovers and kills the Frost Giant with practised ease. But he still glances down at his arm, although unscathed still somehow broken.
