Every now and again I'll get a glimmer of perceived enlightenment and realize that we so easily get distracted by wealth, ambition, beauty, fame, etc. when in the grand scheme of things it truly doesn't matter. We get distracted by 4 walls and a roof we call houses and homes when we have humans on the Earth without warmth. And when you are above the clouds looking down on "humanity" and all the tiny buildings, what I imagine astronauts see and feel, you question why we fight and what we value, and then go back to being distracted by tall buildings from your vantage point on the ground and the glistening reflections of what looks like gold off of mirrored windows. Realizing we took our gifts to create weapons and as a result are responsible for dwindling down life that supposedly is so precious. Our time here is so utterly fleeting and we know it, yet we lean into the distractions and feel like we have lives of meaning and progress and legacy.
