Sunil & Crystal's Wedding

...was perfect.

I'm never one to wish that was me but I honestly couldn't help but think about a life I could have had. He's attractive, we get along, we were beginning to get close once, and then timing kicked in. I wish more that we became real friends actually.  That said, seeing them together and hearing the accounts of the guys in the grooms party makes me very happy that they found each other and that they eventually worked out their kinks. (She cheated on him a couple years ago and he was really devastated) Maybe that brought them closer?

I took about 2 hours getting ready for the wedding. I think I knew it would be an extravagant event so I dressed to the nines! I got a lot of compliments and so that def. boosted self-esteem. I'm glad I didn't wear a sari but they were all definitely beautiful and creative.

Anyway, only one other guy from HS wasn't in the wedding party so he became my pseudo-date I guess. I always thought he was weird before but he was a cool unintended date. We watched the horse-carriage parade and Indian festive music blaring on speakers as we waited in the blocked-off front portion of the marina hotel. So cool! There were cameras and mics everywhere....it was like I was on the set of a movie. Everyone was dancing around the horse and the MC was perfectly energetic. Normally dancing happens after right? Wrong! I totally want an Indian wedding.

Then we proceeded to the top of the hotel, where an entryway led us outside. You could see the entire coast and marina and DTLA. Penthouse banquet room was the only choice. Soon the ceremony began, with ice cream and fruit water as snacks (!!!), and it was very touching. The backdrop was basically LA and the sun came out when it was over--how perfect. They kept a sheet between the two so they wouldn't see each other until the end, but just held hands. There was ceremonial feet washing, and reading sanskrit, and much more that went on for like 2 hours. The HIndu priest mentioned that in the old days, a wedding like this would have been unheard of (marrying a non-Indian) but that they were making new traditions and they both accept each other, which is true love. :) At the end, a Catholic priest came out, which surprised me. So she got her ideal "i do's" and "i pronounce you man and wife" too. That was very cool.

Cocktail hour and appetizers proceeded. The open bar lasted until 1am and didn't run dry. They only had expensive bottles. They made sure our tummies were satisfied all day! Then we went down to the first floor for the reception. Everything was purple, black, and glam. They changed into more sparkly fun outfits. There was an indian buffet and two other open bars. I got placed at the main groomsmen table, which was nice cuz the ones surrounding ours looked boring.

Joe mentioned that I infiltrated their group. It's true. Somehow I did. All the people I originally had ties with weren't there, but I'm glad that I can handle it on my own now. He also said a few times "you're alright Khathy," "you're like one of the guys," and said he hopes I find someone because I'm a cool girl. IDK why but that was really cool! I took it sentimentally. I drank I danced and then the night was over. You could see the sparkly couple dancing with their parents in the crowd and never stopped smiling.

Perfect!
