I filled out an application for the city to give me a "rain garden" and I hope I get it! I've wanted this for a while now, and this is the perfect opportunity since they would make over our garden to look super pretty and be water efficient for us and the city. I don't know why they set a boundary for which homes qualify in the valley. While we're remodeling everything, I think I'll still pitch the idea to my mom. So far, we're doing the kitchen from inside out. It's quite exciting to envision this and the fact that my mom designed it all from scratch, and negotiated, and researched, for months, everyday, while working two jobs. It'll be her own art show, in a sense. What to expect: natural stone tile, white cabinets with glass display doors, perks like built-in wine racks, spice drawer, trash bin, hidden lights, higher ceiling, not sure what type of granite countertop yet, stainless steel appliances, finally a useable dishwasher, new added windows to yield more natural light, new doors (this was def. needed), and idk what else. I so excite!

I've officially gone through my first full week of grad school. I regret to say that I don't think it was necessary for me to attend the first week. Grad school is really different than I imagined, and more like elementary school than undergrad. No tests, just projects, and sharing, and groups, and "yay." I am glad though that my cohort is significantly diverse. There is a balance of science vs. non-science majors, and there are students from all over the US and the world(!) in my program! I'm definitely interested to expand my cultural groups as well. I've got to say that we have an exceptionally attractive group too. The profs. so far all seem very attentive and caring and honest. I'm also glad to see that one of my former profs. is now at CSUN and who also wrote me a letter of rec. I so excite!
