The Shifter Book Trailer

Jul 10, 2012 15:57

I started working on trailers for the Healing Wars Trilogy by Janice Hardy.  I tried a slightly different style for these pictures.  Here is "The Shifter," I hope you like the direction that it is going.  I will post the others as soon as I make them.

Enjoy!! :) )

Wow. That was awesome!!!

At first I was wondering who you were going to cast as Nya, but I like that there weren't faces here. The hands especially were meaningful enough on their own. And I loved the writing. And the music. And... and everything!

Thank you!! :)

It can be so hard to find the "right" face, but the hands were an interesting way to go.... it made it more difficult about places, though ... I can find those pictures really easily, but now I had to represent them using hands ... It was a fun challenge.

I'm so glad you enjoyed!! :)

I was trying to think who I would cast as Nya or Danello, but I can't think of anyone...I think it's actually one of the things I love about the series - everyone is so incredibly...Normal. In QT and FT we hear about Irene or Soraya's beauty, or Helen's lack there of. Lots of times you read about how exceptionally tall or short a character is. But mostly in The Healing Wars, everyone is just average. Except, of course, for Vyand, whose hair is always perfect XD

Oh yes, and that's one of the things I love about Healing Wars. Everyone looks ordinary; it's not like other books where the author spends pages detailing characters down to the last freckle. Which isn't necessarily bad, but it gives us more freedom to imagine what characters looks like. =D

Lol, now I'm trying to think who would make a really good Vyand.

How about her for Vyand?

Well, she's the same person I'd have for Irene, and the same person we have for Miranda, so she's a bit busy, but Vyand doesn't have *that* big a part...And she looks pretty scary with a knife:

I was actually thinking about her! Haha. She's not exactly my image of Irene, but she's the closest it seems we have for an actress. (And she's got nice hair.)

Oh, Miranda too? You mean, if we dyed her hair red and curl it, right? I saw on Rachel Aaron's Pinterest that Merida (the girl from Brave) is how she imagines a younger Miranda.

We used her picture for Miranda in all three of the trailers...Her hair was a little redder in the picture we found and I touched it up a bit XD Who is your idea of Irene?

This is the picture we used plus some highlights:

Ooh, she looks different in that picture. Must be the angle. No wonder I didn't recognize her! (Or maybe I'm just that unobservant XD.)

I'm not really sure who I'd use for Irene. I imagine her looking a little softer than the actresses others have been picking out for her, just because I had the impression that her actions were all the more horrific because she doesn't *look* like she's capable of being cruel.

Someone mentioned Olivia Hussey in Sounis, which I thought fit my more softer image of Irene. (But she's super old now =(. Also she's super short too.) Here's the image they used:

She's make a good Irene too, I guess I just really like Katie McGrath because she dresses like Irene in some of her roles...makes for easy icons and trailer! And yeah, she did look really different in the 'Miranda' picture, so there's nothing wrong with your observation!
