I don't get to have ALL of Danello?????? Well, I was thinking I'd have to settle with one third of him, and then you and Books could each have one third, and then each of us would give Nya back a tiny sliver, and then we would all be happy. Right????
Aylin is the one who makes sure that they never take their morals and values for granted. When they can explain to her why they did what they did, they can be at peace. She won't let them get caught up in the moment and do the wrong thing.
Nya was such a refreshing change from the hero/heroine marching in and thinking "I have ALL the answers! Listen to ME!" She knew she didn't have all the answers, and she felt guilt when she did something that didn't turn out the way it was supposed to.
You're right, Quenji was so hard to accept becuase Soek was killed in battle. As sad as that is, you accept that the book is about a war, and somebody is going to die. (Actually, when I started reading the 2nd book, I thought, "With healers around, there shouldn't be that many deaths" Boy was I wrong.) Anyway, Quenji didn't die directly because of the war. He could have been having a fist fight with anybody too close to the edge of the bridge. And crocodiles are like a force of nature. You can't control them. I think it was harder, too, because of her whole tirade at them immediately afterward. "Danello could die and never see Halima and the twins again." "Soek could fall off the next bridge and die" (was she implying that he was clumsy??)She made them all realize that nothing was guarenteed. It made it all the more sobering.

Well, I'd be happy with... say, 20-25%. Another guy from Faery Rebels caught my eye, and I wouldn't want my Dream Man to be overstuffed. ^__^ That leaves more room for Nya, I'd say. Let's cut her some slack; she did save all of Geveg and Baseer from total destruction. She deserves a date or two with Danello. Heehee.
I agree, and there are so many female leads nowadays who are always out "trying to change the world", because they're just too ahead of their time. Nya's not like that. She actually wanted to be just an ordinary person.

I don't think Aylin wanted to imply that Soek was clumsy. I think she was just emphasizing that something could happen at any time and they'll just die. Just like that.
Anyway, now I'll re-imagine the ending and put Quenji in there to reunite with Aylin. Oh, what do you think about Jeatar and Vyand? I sort of thought Vyand had a thing for Jeatar in the third book. =)
We were joking around yesterday, and me and Books just said the same thing!! :) (About Jeatar and Vyand) She definetly has a thing for him. I'm not sure he's to impressed with her, but time together could improve that!

I'm just here to claim my 25% of Danello - I figure we'd leave Nya a whole quarter to herself. Of course, she has to share him with his sister and the twins and his da, who like the MoW, doesn't have a name...Another in the great tradition on nameless fictional fathers, I guess XD
