Exactly a week ago i was in Saguijo (this great li'l bar tucked away in Makati),
checking out the ecclectic iloveyoustore (that sells Bmovies,handsewn jackets and Thai/Egyptian accessories and much much more hard-to-find artsy items);
I just learnt of the bands COSMIC LOVE and PINOY STORIES that played fucking awesome funk reggae.
Can't fully describe that night except that it blew me away. The energy in the room was even stronger than the time I had been in 6underground with the mongols. If you were there you'd understand --you'd be bobbing your head to the music regardless of wheteher the songs were familiar or not.
At one time, there were three percussionists performing all at once and it didn't matter! Band memebers started removing their shirts, almost everyone started dancing. Walang plastikan. Walang hiyaan. Everything was just so fluid and lively. No stage, just an intimate room with the audience right in front of ur face. Yet another great night for me (thanks Kris for dragging me out tuesday night). Haaay and then it hit me --so much of our local talent goes unrecognized. But then again, I'm sure the two bands that I mentioned will hit it big soon. Heart and energy like that is hard to come by and just can't be ignored.
