random canon notes whatever

Episodes

04: The Victoria Nightmare
  • Une's first appearance in animated canon.
  • Basically, she's just standing over Treize while he takes a bath in some strange Greek/Roman ruin at sunset.
  • She pretty much keeps a straight face while reporting the proceedings about an info leak in Lagrange until Treize gives Zechs a compliment; she visibly frowns at that but she schools her features back into neutrality when Treize addresses her. Mind games being played here. She's obviously jealous but she knows better than to express it.
  • When given the assassination order for Vice Foreign Minister Darlian, she simply bows her head and accedes with an addendum about getting the rose fragrance ready for his next bath. A lot of assumptions can be made here. If he bathes in rose fragrance, it's safe to assume that's what he smells like. Also, this is not the first time she's seen him naked. Since she's talking about his next bath, one could also say that this is a regular thing between them.
  • I laugh every time at the end of this scene when he leans back and rolls his head to the side saying "Sounds good." It's like he's deliberately taunting her to be unprofessional. Also, something I noticed only during this particular rewatch: his eyes are closed throughout the whole scene. He's not even looking at her. 8|
05: Relena's Secret
  • Welp, it's assassination time. On the shuttle with Minister Darlian, she walks on over to wish him success despite the fact that she's obviously not welcome. When he gives her the silent treatment, she implies his rudeness saying there's nothing wrong with socializing. He strikes back saying he has nothing to discuss with a Specials officer. It's here that she sort of loses her temper and accuses him of speaking "nasty words" but it's not full-on anger. She points out that she's simply present due to orders and how she'd appreciate it if he didn't take his frustrations out on her. He continues to ignore her and tells his daughter, Relena, to look at how beautiful the Earth is. Having returned to her seat, Une overhears this and takes out a compact mirror, murmuring to herself that Darlian should take a good look because it's the last time he'll see it.
  • So far: her life = being ignored by people. It is the most awesome life, obviously. =_=;
  • I think there's shades of her diplomatic persona in the aforementioned scene. She's trying to socialize. She's just not very good at it. Her voice is harsh and commanding. Her temper flares up. She's still political enough not to cause international incident though.
  • Her next scene is brief. She just seems really pleased with herself when Minister Darlian talks to the colony representatives about rumors that the colonies intend to attack Earth. The meeting is to clear up those rumors. From her earlier conversation with Treize, we already know she had a hand in that "leak."
  • I listened to the next scene she's featuring her in both Japanese and English. I swear they fucking call her "Miss Redii" in the Japanese. Not "Redii-san." MISS REDII. /headdesks
  • In the English dub, it's Miss Une.
  • Bandai's subtitles read "Excuse me, Miss Une" at this point in the scene. It's 05:55 into the episode.
  • Oh and she gets kicked out of the meeting room by one of the colony representatives. LMAO. She has no "diplomatic authorization." This is so ironic because she becomes OZ's representative to the colonies later on. No fuss from her about being sent out though. With a straight face, she just excuses herself.
  • After she leaves, she activates the bomb in her compact powder and leaves it on a table outside the meeting room. It's set to go off in ten minutes. Relena sees it though and, being the good girl that she is, goes to look for Une in order to return the compact.
  • With ten seconds left on the clock, Relena hands her the compact and oh shit...
  • This is the first time she full on loses her temper. And come on, it's justified. What would you do if someone handed you a bomb ten seconds before it was set to go off? Headcanon: OZ totally has a baseball/softball team and she's an awesome pitcher. She throws that bomb like a fastball and it breaks the window to the meeting room before it goes off.
  • LOL you can briefly see the text on the compact before it goes off. It says "Glierian Paris." Classy bomb.
  • Super close call and she has her soldiers go after Relena with orders to kill the girl. Capture doesn't even cross her mind.
  • Her soldiers bungle that and Une actually puts herself in front of the speeding escape vehicle containing Relena, her father and sympathizers to their cause. No flinching. Just firing dead on the whole time. She jumps out of the way at the last minute. When asked by a soldier if she's hurt, she merely grumbles in frustration.
  • Despite that mess, she's a picture of calm and a perfect liar at the press con later in the day blaming the attack on terrorists. The gambit of using the "terrorist act" to make the colony look hostile toward the Alliance is now played. She also puts herself in charge of investigating the terrorist act. So basically, even before she transitioned into her diplomatic persona, she was well-aware of how to conduct politics and crisis management as well as how to play the press. She's just more ruthless and less charismatic. Also, not as hot. :|
06: Party Night
  • After Relena returns home, we see Une speaking to Treize via audio feed at some telecommunications facility. Safe to say that it's a secure line because you don't do villainous discussions about killing someone in something that can get hacked. She seems to be handling the communication device just fine all on her own. In fact, the room's empty except for her. This is where my headcanon being all hax0rz with tech comes from.
  • When Treize asks her when she plans to return, she tells him she needs more time. He doesn't chastise her outright but tells her it's unlike her to make mistakes. Yep, all the manipulation, all the time. She asks for Mobile Suit support to aid her in the attack to dispose of Relena and he grants her five. She expresses surprise at this but he justifies it owing to all the disaster with the Gundams constantly attacking OZ.
  • When she has her forces attack St. Gabriel's Insitute, Relena's school, she tells her troops to stop at nothing since she intends to spin in in the press as another terrorist attack.
  • Ok so I ❤ this dialogue between her and one of her soldiers so I'm quoting the dub here for reference:UNE:
Don't stop at anything. It will be reported by the press as another terrorist attack against the alliance.

    SOLDIER:
I don't feel too great about this. Attacking a defenseless civilian facility.

    UNE:
Then stay behind. I'll have someone else lead the attack.

    SOLDIER:
    But why?

    UNE:
With that attitude, you're risking your life as well as that of others. I can't have that in a leader.

    SOLDIER:
Forgive my insubordination. I'll carry out our mission at once.

    UNE:
Very well. Get on with it.

    SOLDIER:
    Roger. We'll descend immediately.

    UNE: (to herself)
    Stay calm. Don't get angry.
  • So it seems that her change to the diplomatic persona wasn't that abrupt. She knows how to manipulate her subordinates too. The seeds for her change are already starting to take root by this early episode. She's self-aware. She knows she has a temper and she does her best to control it and suppress herself in order to be a better leader.
  • Anyway, Wing Gundam is there. Blah, blah, Colonel Treize was right. Capture that. Dispatch our Aries.
  • Oh right, she has a minor WTF moment when she finds out the Gundam's protecting Relena. Because srsly...why? Why the hell would the Gundam be protecting that girl? Makes no sense from her POV. Makes no sense to Heero either, actually. Une's led to speculate that Relena knows the pilot.
  • With all their suits destroyed, Une's ready to go and finish the girl off herself but Treize makes a call telling her to cancel the mission and return to base. She protests a lot at that because demmit, the mission... He cuts her off while she's talking. Twice. Anyway, blah blah let Relena live. You didn't fail. We weren't expecting that enemy. She grudgingly obeys. Inb4 she does not worship the ground he walks on, ok? She wouldn't talk back so damned much if she did. She respects him but she's not going to be all "oh ok...just y'know forget all the effort I put into this shit."
  • Anyway, turns out Treize had Une not kill Relena because Noin, out of worry for Zechs, called in a favor. Nice little web of interactions going there. Oh! And the roses on Treize's desk in the scene where he addresses Noin are yellow. Just a random thing...
07: Scenario to Bloodshed
  • Discussions between Treize and Une about the New Edwards Base decoy thing.  Basically, they're letting info leak that all the OZ top brass will be at New Edwards when it's actually Alliance. When he says "Well at least the part about you and I being there is going to be true," she keeps the same stern facade. No surprise or anything other than an inquiry about him counting himself in as a decoy. He questions her choice to station Zechs in Nairobi but respects her decision once she provides adequate justification. It implies that he has some faith in her abilities as a strategist.
  • "Let's see which course the future will take." "It will take whatever direction you decide on." All the villainous plotting. Sorry, I lol'd. It's a compliment to him but it hardly constitutes simpering though. Also, he brushes it off saying some stuff about looking at how it goes and whatever.
  • Anyway, Treize paints the Gundams as weapons made by the colonies to attack the Alliance during the meeting. Une inquires as to what they're to do next and he tells her they need someone to leak the anger of the Alliance to the press. Welp, he says they need an "actor" along with some other metaphorical shit because he's a metaphorical bastard but I've decoded that for convenience.
  • Some of the officers want peace talks. One of them, Septem, loudly disagrees. We officially have our "actor."
  • The Gundams attack. Treize cues Une to send the signal to their troops in Nairobi to attack the Alliance's Mumbasa base. This is Operation Daybreak.
  • Treize advises for evacuation and the Alliance officers heed him. Treize offers them the use of his shuttle at Gate B-12. Which is the number between 11 and 13. He has that loud bastard Septem go on another shuttle, Treize's private one, located at Gate F-7. Septem = 7.
  • Anyway, worldwide uprisings are happening. This show is about war and everything. The Alliance is getting overthrown from the inside since OZ and its Specials are doing a coup and constituted a significant part of Alliance rule.
  • Shit hits the fan when Heero kills all the Alliance delegates because they're on an OZ shuttle. Septem, still alive because he's on Treize's shuttle, declares war because colony weapons (lol Gundams) attacked them during peace talks. After he's done with his speech, Une compliments him then tells him they won't be needing him any further before tossing him off the plane AND shooting him in the head during his fall. "A magnificent performance. It truly is a pity you had to leave the stage so early. Well, we can't have any blood stains in Treize's wake now, can we?" Just a note: she says Treize-sama in the Japanese audio.
  • Oh gawd, I just noticed that even her fucking boots have high heels. Srsly. Heels always. WTF.
08: The Treize Assassination
  • Blah blah duty talk. She smiles and salutes when Treize tells her she's in charge of the Gundam situation at New Edwards though.
  • Anyway, she's in overkill mode. She orders her soldiers to self-detonate the WHOLE BASE.
  • Major Sally Po manages to intercept a transmission and tries to put a stop to the plan though. Blah, blah Gundam pilots put a stop to things going boom.
  • She apologizes for failing and again we get "I'm surprised. That's not like you." from him as a response. Seriously, Treize? Seriously?
  • When she discusses how the pilots foiled her plans for detonating the base, he says that the pilots saved them because the Earth must be protected and mustn't be "thoughtlessly polluted." He tells her she needs to learn more about OZ and she simply offers an apology and a promise to try harder.
  • Thinking on Treize's words, Une wonders if it's possible that she doesn't understand Treize but dismisses that as an impossibility.
  • Anyway, carrier planes from New Edwards come and Une immediately recognizes them as enemies but her troops have already foolishly permitted them to board the naval fleet. One carrier crashes into onto one of their ships while another heads toward the mothership. She orders that the carrier be shot down. It hits anyway and, to make things worse, Gundam Heavyarms is now on the ship. She orders Leos to attack it.
  • Leos are fail, btw. 20 of them down so fast.
  • She chastises her troops for not getting a Leo on a catapult to push the Gundam into the sea so Cancers can attack it. Yep, looks like she knows naval tactics too. With 70% of their Leos gone and Gundam Shenlong also having shown up, it looks like things have gone to hell.
  • Also, it turns out her Leo is special. It's has an advanced mobile option so it moves like an Aries. She takes it out to join her troops in battle with the full intent to take down Shenlong Gundam since it's attacking Treize's ship.
  • Her piloting is a bit like this: bulldoze the Gundam, drop Aries thrusters, draw beam saber, dodge around, try to get in final strike. And then she gets emotional and angry which makes her lose focus... 8|
  • Her Leo's arm with the beam saber gets broken off as a result. Treize intervenes with his ship though. He doesn't heed her when she tells him to get away because it's dangerous. Instead he hacks her Leo's system so her monitors show some mountain scenery while telling her to leave the pilot to him. Such a troll. B|
  • Blah blah hand to hand sword fight. Treize lets Wufei to escape and Une asks why. He tells her some stuff about honor and giving chances and idek...she probably didn't get it. Her face the whole time is just "But Mister Treize... 8|"
09: Portrait of a Ruined Country
  • She only has one scene in this episode and I'm quoting it in it's entirety since it's a notable one. This scene also establishes my headcanon that she doesn't drink because she completely ignores his invitation to imbibe.
    TREIZE:
(seated) Lady, won't you join me?

    UNE:
(currently standing and pouring wine into his glass) Mister Treize, what would you suggest for our next target?

    TREIZE:
Let's just continue fighting and winning.

    UNE:
Shall I interpret that as meaning we should conquer the Earth Sphere?

    TREIZE:
That would be plenty. OZ would then be hated. It'd become the target for the entire world.

    UNE:
(leaning down to meet his eyes and staring) What are you saying?

    TREIZE:
Those that are hated must remain strong. It'd be the perfect motivation for OZ.

    UNE:
    ( s t a r e s 8 | )
  • Srsly, that's what happens. Srsly. ._.

10: Heero, Distracted by Defeat
  • Treize's shuttle lands and he and Une look at Tallgeese. When he mentions Zechs would be the only qualified to pilot it,  she gets obviously jealous at the compliment. Yeah, this is another exchange I have to quote because it's fucking hilarious how obvious she is.
    TREIZE:
I can see that it's no ordinary machine and that Zechs would be the only one who could pilot it.

    UNE:
It might not be wise giving Zechs too much special treatment.

    TREIZE:
We're providing a superior suit to a superior pilot. Any problem with that?

    UNE:
I'm concerned it might give him an attitude.

    TREIZE:
Lady, there's no need for you to worry about that. I need you to focus on the major issues.

    UNE:
    (nodding) Sir.
  • I don't even know... Later in episode 22, it's apparent that he knows how she feels about him. He's still playing her at this point.
  • When Treize compliments Zechs and Noin, Une's thoughts are: "Why should Mister Treize have to thank his own soldiers? Then there are those who shamelessly accept his words."
  • Aside from the jealousy, I think she's also still reeling from the constant stream of "That's not like you" she's been getting from him over her string of failures. Not that he considers them failures. He constantly reassures her that they aren't but she tends to be self-flagellating.
  • She actually misses the fact that he gives her the highest compliment less than a minute later: he puts her in charge of Zechs and Noin. Seriously, you idiot, he may have given them verbal praise but you're still the one in the superior position at the end of the day.
  • No, she just dwells and stews on the fact that when she calls for a meeting to discuss the latest operation, Treize says Zechs will be late since there are things he needs to discuss. So she takes her frustration out on Noin... ;;
  • At the briefing, same ruthless tactics on display. Tauruses in Siberia for a new mobility system. Noin doesn't know about this and Une explains that OZ lacks confidence in Lake Victoria which happens to be where Noin saw her students massacred. Anyway, there's a false transport plan so the Tauruses won't be intercepted. OZ is all about the decoys. She wants to lure them into attacking to facilitate complete annihilation. We get some infodump about all the Gundams and their weaknesses. They don't excel in an organized battle and all that. Also, turns out the Taurus is capable of learning from accumulated battle data and kill commands may override the pilot. So yeah, the Gundam pilots have to stop that.
  • Oh right...and she totally tries to ruin Zechs by telling him he needs to be honorable and shit by fighting Wing Gundam one on one. IDEK... Noin wants to back him up. NOPE.JPG need you at headquarters to assist me. If Zechs loses, all the fail this time is his fault. Yay?
  • She has her squadrons attack the Gundams on BOTH routes leading the pilots to assume "Oh lots of security. This must be the legit one." W/e it's a messy plan I can't brain. Land route's a decoy. Air is legit.
  • Oh...and the plan is full of fail because Gundams are super powerful. :c BETTER WEAPONS > BETTER TACTICS
  • Noin wants the Tauruses to go on emergency take-off but Une refuses to approve because she's confident in her strategy. /headdesks
  • Space Fortress Barge! Yep, her secret weapon. She has them contacted to aim all the missile satellites they seized from the Alliance and aim them at the colonies. They call her sir. /crying
  • She says she's not bluffing too unless they surrender the Gundams. TBH, I'm not sure whether or not she's bluffing here either. But that's genocide. I think she's bluffing but she's also completely bonkers. She doesn't have those missiles go off when Heero self-detonates though. If the end of one young man's life resonates that hard before, I really doubt she was ready to have innocents murdered. I think it's fair to assume she's bluffing. Bluffing very well.
  • Zechs calls her tactics tasteless and tells her to get a grip on herself. Whatever Zechs. Whatever. You be honorable and shit. They have this whole argument about Treize and he's all: "YOU CLEARLY DON'T UNDERSTAND HIS EXCELLENCY!" Oh no you didn't. Cutting this feed so hard. B| YOU'RE THE ONE WHO DOESN'T UNDERSTAND HIM. 8U And then she slaps Noin in the face for telling her she's wrong. /headdesk
  • Oh wait, she's not bluffing. She's fucking insane. She wants the missiles launched. Oh gawd...no redeeming qualities, you overzealous bitch. None. Let me try to rationalize this...hm, welp I guess she panicked under all the pressure of "YOU'RE WRONG!" being yelled at her. Since she's been so fail of late...
  • Anyway, Dr. J reveals himself. We surrender but we're not surrendering the Gundams and all that. Heero makes himself and Wing Gundam go boom.
  • Une calms her ass down upon seeing that kind of sacrifice made without a second thought in order to save the colonies.
  • Treize makes a call which Noin intercepts. Une tries to grab the comm headpiece but Noin relays his message: Be more graceful about everything. More graceful.
  • Yeah, I think I heard her brain break.
11: The Whereabouts of Happiness
  • So she fucked up again. We have another scene of her apologizing to him.  All the apologies, all the time. This time it's for planning a direct attack on the colonies on her own.
  • He doesn't seem angry with her though simply telling her it's all water under the bridge. In fact, he looks on the bright side saying at least they now know that the pilots aren't acting independently and have people behind the scenes steering them. He still wants the Gundams defeated but their supporters concern him. He doesn't want the enemy to get any more powerful and asks if he can rely on her. She salutes and accepts the order.
  • And this is where it gets weird... He walks toward her. As her hand descends from her salute, he takes it in his own and her hand visibly twitches. Seriously. ._. He tells her those on the colonies will prefer no show of militarism. Welp, the seed's been planted for her big transformation later on. "You can do away with some of your formalities." LMFAO.
  • He tells her to announce her trip to space to talk to the colonies in Moscow then, when he releases her hand, she gasps audibly. Gawd, she's so fucking transparent. ;; She even looks at the hand he release fondly before regaining her bearings and acknowledging the order.
  • Later, we see her addressing the press in her uniform but she's wearing a red rose on her lapel. Relena turns off the TV saying the rose doesn't suit her one bit. No clue if Treize gave that to her or if she put that there herself.
  • Btw, she fucks up Moscow too later on. BECAUSE SHE NEVER FUCKING LISTENS. 8| What part of "You can do away with some of your formalities" means "Bring a full military escort, wear your uniform and make sure your gun is visible." Gawd Une.
  • She's still wearing the rose. When she speaks to the host of the party, Marquis Weridge who happens to be the father of Relena's foster mother, he asks for the rose so he can give it to Relena. Ouch. Une's surprised to see Relena there. And then Relena tries to shoot Une to avenge her father...lol? Une barely dodges the shot and Relena runs off.
  • Cue so much enraged screaming after the rose gets shot off her. She sends her soldiers after the girl but Weridge and the other party guests block the way.
  • Then we don't see her again until Episode 17...ohohoho.
17: Betrayed by Home Country, Far Away
  • So remember how Episode 11 had her announce her trip to space? She's in space now.
  • But when you first see her, you REALLY won't know it's her. When I first saw her in this ep, I was like "Who the fuck is that pondering peace aloud to herself? New character?"
  • We later see her coordinating with an OZ solider, Nichol, about putting the Tauruses away on Barge despite lacking security because the people of the colonies see Mobile Suits as enemies. She has a private meeting with them later. Over. ;)
  • Nichol commands battle orders cancelled and we see the cockpits of the Tauruses activating by themselves. They're unmanned dolls.
  • Anyway, a recorded video is played with her voice on the track talking about the Alliance's tyranny and how OZ intends to support the colonies in their freedom. The whole room is abuzz. The message is apparently from the "OZ Peace Support Organization."
  • We see her in the audience and let me just say that the shot really focuses on her legs for a good long time. And the colony conference is in Area D apparently.
  • When she exits, the main speaker goes out of his way to follow her and extend his thanks. He says he's simply thanking her by himself but hopes one day the whole colony will thank OZ as well. And this is where we see her act like a flirtacious strumpet:COLONY REPRESENTATIVE:
    Thank you very much.

    UNE:
(turning) Huh? Oh, not at all.

    COLONY REPRESENTATIVE:
I'm thanking you on my own right now but, in the future, the whole colony will be thanking OZ.

    UNE:
My, you're very young for a leader. (Fucking shit, Une, you're nineteen. WTF.)

    COLONY REPRESENTATIVE:
Couldn't you interpret my youth as potential? Unlike our ancestors, we third generation colonists know that OZ is different from the Alliance military.

    UNE:
But OZ was part of the Alliance at one point. It's naturally going to take some time before the people can understand. Troops of the former Alliance military are still scattered here and there throughout the colonies. (polite nod) Excuse me. I must be leaving to liberate the next colony. (turns to leave)

    COLONY REPRESENTATIVE:
Uh pardon me but I didn't catch your name.

    UNE:
Oh yes, that's right. I am responsible for OZ's outer space supervision. (turning to face him again, hands reaching up to the side of his face delicately taking his glasses off causing him to blush; she then raises the glasses to her own face, lenses still facing forward so the ear hooks of the spectacles point at the representative and her voice gains a certain edge, gaining some harshness though her kind facade remains) And you can call me Lady Une.
    • I LOVE this episode for that mindfuckery. SERIOUSLY. OMG. I was all "Noooooo...no way. Nooooo." when I first watched this episode. And the subtle voice change when she brings the glasses close was just "FFFFFFF...."
    • It's fair to assume she isn't split yet at this point. She still has some semblance of control over herself when transitioning. Act like this when you wear blue. Act like this while in uniform. That's normal. And we saw a shade of her uniformed self showing when she took that colony representative's glasses.
    • It also shows that she has no respect for personal boundaries when she's trying to make a point. She's a pro at tossing compliments and flirting. AND THAT SKIRT. Damn that's fucking short.
    • Quatre has it figured out that OZ is using the dirtiest tactics: extending assistance to lull the colonies into a false sense of security.
    • Inside a closed colony representative meeting, all the representative talk of being impressed with OZ but having doubts to their motives. One claims that maybe they're trying to atone for the politician Heero Yuy's assassination. The representative Une flirted with is quick to fire back that there's no proof OZ committed that. Their leader, the Honorary Adviser, comes in saying that's what OZ wants them to think. He doubts OZ but the Colony Representative from earlier is already deluded with the peace message and keeps defending OZ.COLONY REPRESENTATIVE:
Well, at the very least, we do know that Colonel Une is trustworthy. (lol nooooo...)

      HONORARY ADVISER:
I hear she's executed a number of aggressive and bloody plans in the past. (listen to the old man, he speaks the truth)

      COLONY REPRESENTATIVE:
Those are rumors. She's been overlooking the situation and taking on the dangerous task of removing space mines.

      HONORARY ADVISER:
You don't think that's because they hope to conquer outer space?

      OTHER REPRESENTATIVE:
It's a fact that they're currently working for the well-being of the colonies.

OTHER REPRESENTATIVE THAT IS NOT THE ONE ABOVE:
In any case, sir, OZ is reaching out to us and it's all in the name of peace. It's not in our best interest to reject them.

      COLONY REPRESENTATIVE:
Our policies focus on our friendship with Earth. I think we should welcome OZ.

      HONORARY ADVISER:
      This is truly most annoying.
    • Yep, it is.
    • Next we see her, someone's fixing her hair as she gets into uniform. She receives the transmission that a place thought to be a Gundam manufacturing factory in 13087 of Colony D has been found and they've captured an engineer. She doesn't respond with "well done" until she has her glasses on and her bun braids are in place. She returns to the command tower to meet the engineer.
    • And it's Professor G. Deathscythe's designer. He was caught trying to destroy evidence of Gundam manufacturing and had succeeded in getting rid of all the data. Une doesn't hesitate to hold a the nozzle of gun to his head, right between his eyes. When she asks if he built the Gundams and he tells her that's a stupid way to ask a question. He does concede that he had something to do with one but not the other four. His masterpiece is called Deathscythe. He tells her it's a fluke that four others were made because communication between colonies was lacking. She lowers her gun upon receiving an urgent message: Gundams 02 and 04 are attacking the Singapore Space Port Base.
    • The colony representatives see this video of the attack and, wanting to ally themselves with OZ, disown the Gundams saying that if the Gundams consider OZ an enemy, the colonies will consider them an enemy. And yep, it's the one Une flirted with making the statement. B]
    • Back in space, it turns out OZ has already captured four of the Gundam engineers and there's only one holding out. She commands her troops to open fire on him but a beam takes them for surprise. She gives the command for her front line to spread out though some of them still get hit. The ones with pilots. The unmanned Mobile Dolls are fine because of their quicker reaction times.
    • She commands the Dolls to fire their beam cannons but Nichol protests saying the cannons are too strong and might cause a lot of damage to the colonies. "Nichol, since when OZ has tiptoed its way through battle? We're not trying to establish diplomatic relations. We are trying to win a war here! Damage to the colony wouldn't be our fault. It would be the fault of the rebel holding out against us."
    • Hearing that mean-spiritedness, Dr. J finally surrenders. He gets shoved in a holding cell with his fellow engineers.
    • Back on Earth, Sandrock is detonated as the pilots make their escape to space.
    • Nichol asks if the engineers will get a public trial but Une has other ideas for using them. We don't hear these plans though because she's interrupted with news that the pilots are en route to space. She asks for satellite missiles to be aimed at them. However, the radio's jammed and the radar's offline. We get a shot of the engineers and Dr. J saying that OZ will regret keeping the engineers and pilots alive.
    18: Tallgeese Destroyed
    • This episode begins with Une heading to her quarters to get dressed. Turned away from her is one of her soldiers on a video feed talking about the Gundam engineers as she sheds her diplomatic attire. The soldier mentions that the Gundam engineers were all involved in producing OZ Mobile Suits in the past as servants undress Une. All five were said to have disappeared while the Tallgeese was being developed. At the mention of Tallgeese, Une asks if that's the same Tallgeese (Leo prototype) that Zechs is using as she buttons up the collar on her uniform and has her hair fixed then dons her glasses. She disagrees when the soldier says the Tallgeese is the most powerful suit and makes known her plans to have the Gundam engineers make a Mobile Suit more powerful the Tallgeese and the Gundams.
    • Later we see her talking to the Gundam engineers who call the Mobile Dolls foolish since it reduces war to a mere game. She offers them the chance to build a Mobile Suit for OZ but they say they'd rather die. Declaring negotiations over, Une is called away to speak to Chief Officer Nichol. Turns out leftover Alliance forces intend to team up with a Gundam pilot. Une calls them imbeciles and orders them wiped out.
    • After the Alliance forces are wiped out, Nichol asks if they should retrieve the Gundam pilot in the shuttle. Une declines and orders the pilot to be killed. At this point, Dr. J interjects wishing to speak to the pilot. She permits it and a message from Quatre is heard trying to bring the pilots together. The engineers agree to build a Mobile Suit for OZ if Quatre is spared.
    • Une orders the shuttle blown up after Quatre is retrieved. It fires without warning though despite being unmanned. Turns out the soldier who retrieved Quatre was a traitor and hijacked the shuttle. He's killed when the shuttle is blown up but has already taken Quatre to safety.

    • AC175: Original Heero Yuy's assassination
    • Quick Recap: OZ has made the pilots look bad while they do their takeover. Now they don't know what to do, That's the gist of it.
    • Howard rescued Zechs then just casually introduces himself as Tallgeese's creator. No biggie.
    • Ok, I love the narration when Une makes her entrance for a press con. It's like she's being painted as the personification of OZ. Also, her dialogue with the representatives:
      NARRATOR:
OZ, which was now applying pressure to the former United Earth Sphere Alliance space force stationed at Lagrange point was steadily increasing it strength within the colonies. The Space Fortress Barge was symbolic of this strength. However, OZ would not show its aggressive side to the citizens of the colonies. Instead, it showed a completely different aspect of itself. OZ's Colonel Une replaced the former commander of the Alliance space force and succeeded in forming relations with representatives of the colonies. Coupled with a sense of liberation from the militaristic pressure of the Alliance, the colonies were welcoming OZ to its new establishment.

      UNE:
In order to attain peace and to co-exist not only in the colonies but within the whole Earth Sphere, we must have your cooperation. Unfortunately though there are still those within the colonies who are doubtful of OZ and who insist on pointing out mistakes made in the past. However, I believe the day will come when people will understand the efforts made by OZ. That's my belief.

      REPRESENTATIVE ONE:
We feel that they'll change their minds as well and we're desperately trying to convince each of the colonies.

      REPRESENTATIVE TWO:
On the other hand, we have no means to counter violence.

      UNE:
That's what OZ is here for. As long as OZ is present, I have no doubt that justice will be served, gentlemen.

      REPRESENTATIVE TWO:
If Colonel Une says so, then there's no need to worry.

      REPRESENTATIVE ONE:
Once peace spreads into space, even those who still harbor doubts toward OZ will awaken to the truth.

      UNE:
      Yes.

      NICHOL:
      (running in) Colonel Une.

      UNE:
      Hm?

      NICHOL:
We now have the item in question.

      UNE:
      Huh?

      NICHOL:
      Colonel, please return to Barge.

      UNE:
      To Barge?

      NICHOL:
      They're orders from His Excellency.

      UNE:
His Excellency, Treize...huh? (spacing out for a moment before her voice takes on a sterner tone) I'll return to Barge.
    • By the way, when she makes her entrance, she floats and sparkles. Not even kidding.
    • Plus her dialogue with the representatives appears to be in a hallway. Doesn't even appear official. She just talks them into shit even if it's outside a conference venue.
    • Anyway, back on Barge, they talk about intercepting a Gundam in an HLV carrier and using it as a scapegoat. She asks them to send out Tauruses to capture it and when Nichol asks what to do with the pilot, she answers: UNE:
Depends on his looks. If he's ugly, let him live. if there's a chance people might sympathize with him, kill him. We can't have anything get in the way of changing the general public's minds.

      NICHOL:
Let him live if he's ugly? Really?

      UNE:
      Just kidding.
    • The HLV with the Gundam is from Singapore. They plan to tow it to Colony C1102. Hi, Deathscythe. They attack it with Taurus MDs and Duo is impressed at how fast they are. Deathscythe is shot by a manned Taurus and disabled. Duo tries to self-detonate but it fails and he passes out. Yeah, OZ gets the Gundam. On the news, OZ flaunts its victory and show Duo off. Trowa is baffled by how the colonies were fooled and hopes Heero will make a move.
    • Heero sees that history's been censored by OZ. It's said that there were no major colony incidents in AC175. Anyway, Heero rescues Duo from OZ with some bombs. They deploys MDs to prevent the escape but Wufei shows up with Altron. And this is when Une acts like a complete idiot...
    • So Gundam right by the base? She deploys her shuttle anyway since she's in "peaceable mode" and out of uniform. Besides, there's a meeting to get to. Given the choice between having her be late to her meeting and firing on their own Leos, Nichol chooses the latter.
    • Une's shuttle hovers over Altron and this is when things get weird. She spouts her usual peace dialogue at him. Wufei's weirded out. She also refuses to give her men their orders. Even comes with a sparkly hairflip. OTL So yeah, Nichol orders them to attack Wufei instead and she heads on her merry way for her meeting. Wufei escapes and Nichol is left to ponder: "Which Colonel am I supposed to follow anyway?" Also, the MDs auto-commands were messed up by Heero and Duo so yeah, Barge got ruined. Anyway, Heero talks about killing the scientists who got caught. The episode ends with Zechs going onto space.

    Miscellany

    December 24, AC195:
definitive date of the First Eve War's end (Battlefield of Pacifists)

    1956:
year of Romafeller's establishment; therefore all historical references prior to 1956 are fair game (Battlefield of Pacifists)

    Tomboy:
codename for Tallgeese III (Endless Waltz manga - Tokyopop translation)

I'm amenable to the new canon (Frozen Teardrop) and the retcon (Glory of the Losers) so I'll probably toss shit up about those here if I find anything worth remembering...

idek, i will probably never stop editing this, ooc
