[After taking a day to recuperate, Polly makes her way over to the door to Lady Une's suite, tapping lightly, as if she's afraid to disturb anyone.]
[To her credit, she looks much better than she had the day before, her regenerative abilities having replenished the lost blood. There's still a stump where her hand should be--that will take a month or two to heal completely.]
[The girl smiles, accepting Une's invitation and stepping into the suite. She follows Une's eyes to the stump, then self-consciously hides it behind her back.]
All they could really do, there, was give me a little synthesized blood and send me home with some pills for when it aches.
[She tries to catch the other woman's gaze, wanting to reassure her.]
They say, at the rate I regenerate, it should be regrown in a little over a month.]
[she's always been partial to taking it with citrus; a mix of astringent lemon to contrast the sweetness]
That's how I always take it. I'll go prepare some then.
[rising from her seat, she walks to the kitchen on unsteady feet, trying not to look back and stare; she knows she'll only inflict pity if she does and that's the last thing she wants to do]
[Polly smiles, pleased to have chosen Une's favorite. Her sharp eyes, however, do pick up on the unsteadiness in the other woman's tread and understands her discomfort.]
[While Une is gone, she tugs her shirt-sleeve down over the stump. It obviously doesn't look perfectly normal, but at least it covers it up a little more.]

Miss Polly?
[Une's eyes immediately gravitate toward the stump and it takes all her self-control not to clap a hand over her mouth at the sight]
Please do come in. What are you doing out of the hospital?

Regenerate?
[she keeps her gaze steady on the girl's eyes; she knows what it's like to be on the receiving end of a gaze full of pity]
[it's a deplorable feeling she doesn't wish to inflict on anyone]

I'll grow it back. I've grown back a lot more than this, before.

[humanoid not human; a higher form of life]
Is there anything I can do for you?

[placing it on the coffee table, she reclaims her spot next to Polly]
I don't know how much sugar you want so I'll leave that matter to you.

[Polly plops two lumps into her cup, and stirs slowly to help them dissolve.]
I was wondering... [She frowns to herself, slightly, trying to think of how to word what she wants to ask.]
You didn't sound... happy, when you said all you could do is call the police for us... You sounded... frustrated...
[Okay, not quite a question, but maybe it'll prompt an answer anyway... :-/]

[she follows suit and adds three sugar lumps to her own cup, stirring far longer than necessary]

I was just wondering... did something bad happen to you too?
