my sonnet for English
Ebony Euphoria
Blue satin, dawned with water colored lace;
Sweet pink, cast from the fleshy inside crier;
Hearts woven, wed with threads of new desire.
Faint webs of sunlight, lined in sequins, grace
A new beginning, spun from lovers’ chase.
Young seams of cream, like innocent skinned liars,
A flight through strokes of beauty to admire.
So patterned love goes, dreams so sweet to trace.
But onyx, the distinction of hearts fixed,
Black silhouettes, our bodies in thick oil,
A thousand whispered promises betwixt
Two, fingers sewn together, one to spoil
Bright echoes stitched to raptured blush of youth,
Sky’s outline transparent, defined by truth.
