The Assignment: Compose a poem using only quotes from one piece of literature.
Literature: A Streetcar Named Desire by Tennessee Williams
The long parade to the graveyard;
Those empty bottles -hold as our flag.
Dying was paid for with pretty flowers.
Not quite to the stage of humanity yet.
On the verge of -
Sometimes they even cry out to you.
Poetry -music -is my executioner.
The struggle for breath and bleeding didn’t dream.
Let’s leave the lights off.
Slipped the cover back on the cage-
Never has there been any light that’s stronger.
While I take a last look at the sky,
I hurt. Nobody, nobody.
In this dark march towards whatever it is we’re approaching,
He’d stuck the revolver into his mouth.
Maybe we are a long way from being made;
Just enough for two shots without any dividends.
These few last remaining moments of our lives together
Let me be damned for the colors of butterfly wings.
