You had noticed it in Piffle World but almost written it off as simply easy friendship, for Tomoyo was kind and jubilant and never once tried to be anything but a new friend. And each encounter from then on was similar, until you could all but predict how she would behave by the events surrounding you both. From there you began to see the nuances, the things unsaid because they were unnecessary, and it hurt a little to think of because she was the one (or rather, many) person you felt could truly understand you. And after your Syaoran was changed, and his replacement you could not connect with, you thought back to Tomoyo, each Tomoyo, and wondered how it would have been if you never had met him and merely her.
You don't know.
This Tomoyo is the same as the others, though with the knowledge of your journey that you cannot relate to anyone, even those who already know. And in the dream she is worried, not only for her loyal ninja who accompanies you but also for you, for your own sake. She would have you live as your broken second family would, and she smiles painfully but hopefully when you assure her you'll try.
The same, but not the same. When she's gone, you think of many worlds and one soul, and wish you had known before the cost of seeing more than one.
