Alice Alice Alice

Last night, Alice and I went on our first official 'date'.
It was magnificent, as I knew it would be. She picked the place and, to be honest, I'd have taken her somewhere far nicer if allowed. Not to say it wasn't a fine meal, but she deserves better than some mid-range chain restaurant. She deserves nothing less than the very best of everything. But I digress.

I picked her up at 7pm and she wore the most enchanting cocktail dress. I dressed to the 9s myself and felt a bit overdone for the restaurant, not that it troubled me. Alice approved of my attire, that's all that matters. She even tried on my top hat during the carriage ride we took in the park after our meal. We talked from the first moment to the last and she laughed at all of my jokes (Her laugh is like the sound of small bells, really. A child's laugh. It's so beautiful and innocent. Like Alice) and charmed me with her own. We talked of dressing as Alice and the Hatter from the stories when Halloween comes around. I think she was poking fun at my hat, but then I told her I have all of the proper ensemble at home. We ended up talking about my volunteer work and she seemed rather impressed. I'm glad. Perhaps she will accompany me to the children's library this year.

One odd bit that keeps bothering me: Alice seemed to know a waiter at the restaurant or, at least, he knows her. He kept glancing at us and it was making me uneasy. When I asked her about it, she said he was nobody. Just a boy she knew from her college classes and not to worry about it. I do worry about it, though. Perhaps I'm just paranoid.
