.... I spam your livejournal pages. Sorry about that, but one of these things is happening this weekend... and people should be prepared.
So on Saturday, March 28th from 8:30 - 9:30 pm... there is an event called Earth Hour. Basically it's a deal where they're trying to encourage people to turn off the lights... not use electricity for one hour to help cut down on global warming. Whereas I don't agree with the view that if you use lights, you're "voting for" global warming... it does sound like a pretty cool idea. I mean families could play board games together, take a walk somewhere, whatever... and still have a good time. On a personal consumer level, it's definitely a worthy challenge. However, for businesses... I understand there are times when you can't just stop and turn out the lights or not use electricity. For example... if I'm in a hospital... I'd like the lights on if I were in the surgery room... just saying. Also in malls... electricity to keep thefts from happening is definitely important. Outer neon lights could probably be turned off... but the parking lights are another point. People might have a fit with that... if they didn't feel safe or what not.

Spring is also a time of new challenges... and this year I started a new plan. The plan involved is that I will not use my heater/air conditioner in my house. Some might call it being stingy... others might call it "Eco" but either way I think it might be a good challenge for me... as well as save me some money on my electric bills. I find I spend way too much time with either one or the other running... and well... basically if I'm cold... I could wear more clothes or use blankets... and if I'm hot... wear less clothes... not curl under my blankets... find another way to beat the heat.
Earth Day is coming up in America... and the international Earth Day has come to a close already. I'd definitely encourage you to come up with your own plan to help the Earth a little bit if you're so inclined.
