She taught him how to love. Properly. She taught him how to open up and not be afraid of getting hurt. As you get older, you learn to be cautious. Being cautious hinders love. Love needs you to revert to childhood, to not be afraid of holding someone’s hand and running.
She showed him how to do that. He can still remember her reassuring smile, the way she would grip his hand whenever a shadow of fear crossed his face. She had a special sort of presence; he always knew he could trust her. He never felt that way about anyone before, he never knew someone so intimately that they could communicate in looks and kisses.
It was the best lesson he ever learnt. It turned his life around, changed everything for good.
