Wondering the White House I searched for Sam as he seemed to be hurting quite a lot from the news of the bombing of Gaza and the fact that Donna might be hurt. If I didn’t know how much he loved me I would have said that he felt something for her. Something more than just being friends. I ended up finding him in his office.
“Sam? You alright?” I asked him.
“I… Toby… what are we supposed to do? She could be dead for all we know.”
“She’ll be fine, Sam. We will be fine. We and the others will get through this.” I say bringing him into my arms so his head was resting against my chest.
“Thank you Toby. I appreciate that. I… Toby… can you just stay here with me? I think I need a friend at the moment.” He stuttered out looking up at me with pleading eyes.
Wrapping an arm around his shoulder I lead him to his couch and just held him while he cried softly. After a while he whispered into my shoulder, “She wasn’t supposed to go on that trip, it was a last minute thing. I keep thinking- what happened if she hadn’t gone. Who would be in her position instead? She’s like a sister to me Toby. I’m… I’m scared for her.”
“She’ll be fine. You will be fine. We’ll get through this together. Why don’t we go see if anyone has anymore news on her condition?” At this he nodded his head ever so slightly and I knew we would be there for each other through this and anything else that came our way.
