He took another sip of his wine and studied his cards thoughtfully. “I do think I’m going to win, Syaoran.”
The young man sitting across from him frowned. “I would not be so sure of that.”
“It does depend much on the hidden card, does it not?”
“Yes, it does, but the loser is the one who must die.”
There was tension, as they flipped the cards over. There lay the ace of spades… and the four of diamonds.
Syaoran’s face fell. “You were counting cards!” He accused.
“A bit late to protest now, isn’t it?” There was a flash, a sparkle of glittering green light as a sword materialized and sank between his ribs…
“I-I really loved you, Yue.” Syaoran gasped, before his eyes went dark.
And the curtain fell as the audience roared with approval.

Summary: Priest! Yue and Acolyte! Syaoran… and the Church of Clow!

The vow of celibacy had never given him trouble before. But then again, Yue reflected, he’d never had to deal with such temptation either. His object of affection was completely unaware of his attentions, and really, why should he care? Still, the priest watched anxiously as the boy carried the amphora of wine up to the altar. The white silks he wore set off his pale skin and dark hair perfectly, and though he was rumored to be loud and boisterous outside, Yue had the good fortune not to know that side of his charge, and thus he saw only peace and respect.
As an acolyte of the Church of Clow, he did well. The lower brothers whispered that he had an innate grasp of magic, rare in one so young, and he could even be a relation of Clow. Even if the line had died out - Clow had no children, everyone knew that - perhaps, a relative?
Yue himself, being Clow’s moon guardian, ran the Church. No one begrudged him his position and if he offended some by his cold manner, well, that was the way he had been created. Besides, he was pure, pure as driven snow, and all the parents pointed and whispered and hoped their children would grow up just like him and perhaps the receive the blessing of Clow Reed.
Back to the matter at hand… He watched as Syaoran lit the candles, marveling slightly at the fact that he used no talisman of power to help. Since Clow’s death, many small, petty magics had been created, but never anything like the wondrous sorcery of his deceased creator.
The plumes of flame danced over delicate fingers and he smiled. Beautiful child, so helpless… abruptly, he shook his head, frowning. He was not supposed to have these strange urges. Certainly, he had never been affected by mere physical beauty before. Why then, did he feel a pull…?
Perhaps the rumors were true, that this one did have Clow’s blood. He would continue his observance, and draw his own conclusions, not those of lesser beings. He watched as the boy finished lighting the candles, knelt in front of the altar, where a pair of candles, one black and one white, burned without toil, and cast their beams of light over the embossed surface of a weighty tome.
The sacred Book of Clow.

One day, the book would be opened, and the Cards released. Then, the Chosen One, the Card Captor, would come, and capture the cards, and than, than their land would have a ruler, kind and just and truthful, to rule once again. Until then, the book sat, closed on the dais, no touch allowed save that of the High Priest alone.
He felt sorry for Cerberus, who was sealed within the book as a guardian of sorts, to guide and protect the Chosen One when he or she came, but the lion his brother had accepted his fate, as Yue had his own. It had been decades since Clow had passed away, and still there was no replacement.
He was not bitter, simply resigned.

A sudden gasp caught his attention, as he turned, only to see that the boy had dared touch the Book. It glowed underneath his hands, and that gave Yue pause. Then, a moment later, with a great cry the Book opened, disgorging its contents to the four winds as brilliant shafts of sunlight pierced the Cathedral.
As the dust died down, he caught sight of Syaoran, shivering with fear, clutching a single card in his hands.
The Windy.

“What have you done?” He demanded, showing his presence, the magic that had kept him shrouded in the shadows tossed aside in a burst of anger. The child quailed underneath his glare, but he made no move to run, not even when Yue gripped his wrists in a punishing grip and let his rage and fear mingle into an oddly possessive lust, pressing his lips to Syaoran’s with brutal force.
It occurred to him later, as Cerberus finally woke from his enchanted slumber, and declared Syaoran Card Captor, to the shock of all, that he had taken his first step down the path of sin.
Strangely, he didn’t care.
