I’m in love with Harry.

It hits her like a ton of bricks. Maybe she’s always loved him, from that moment that she met him on the Hogwarts train. Maybe it was when he was being his usual reckless self and trying to save Sirius was when it stuck her somewhere. Maybe it was when, despite her feelings for Ron, she ran to Harry after the Death Eaters fight.

But, here she is; kissing Harry like her life depended on it, trying to push Ron’s blue eye out of her mind.

It started out so naturally - then again everything is natural with the two of them. They were sitting down next to each other, watching the moon, talking about Dumbledore and Sirius and wondering who else will have to die in this war they’ve found themselves stuck in.

She had kissed his cheek and was about to tell him that he was going to turn in when she paused and they stared at each other for a long moment. She still isn’t sure who started the kiss. All she knows is that nothing ever has felt more right in her entire life.

Which is ironic because nothing feels right in the world anymore. The fate of the world really shouldn’t rest on three seventeen-year-old’s shoulders. Harry’s prophecy should never have happened. Snape should never have been trusted. Sirius shouldn’t have had to die. Dumbledore shouldn’t have lost his life to a man who he’d given a chance to when no one else would have.

But, somehow in the world were nothing is at it should be, she has found something that should be.

Harry has pushed her on the ground and he is attacking her neck with his teeth and lips. She has her arms tightly wrapped around his shoulders and she can hear her own gasps. She vaguely wonders how far this’ll go when Harry tugs at the brim of her shirt.

Before they can find out, she hears a voice call out.

Ron is staring at them and she knows from the look on his face that he’s never felt so betrayed. Harry is looking between them and she knows he’s wondering if he should apologize or not.

The ironic feeling fades. Nothing is at it should be, because you shouldn’t like one of your best friends and fall in love with the other.
