Edward could have never imagined himself like this. Sitting in front of Roy's fireplace in the middle of winter, and snuggling up with Roy himself. It was almost like one of those things you'd read in a lovey-dovey romance novel; it warmed the soul to think about it.
They were perfect for each other; in their own little utopia where no one could bother them ever again. It was only them and no one else existed.
Edward felt so light-hearted that he wouldn't have been surprised if he could walk on air. It was one of the few times Roy and Ed could spend time together and alone without interruptions. No Alphonse, no Hughes, no Hawkeye, and no homunculi.
It was the first time in two months they had even been able to kiss each other without fearing that someone would see them. And they planned to enjoy it thoroughly.

Roy could hear Edward singing in the bathroom and felt enchanted by the words of the lullaby he was singing. He had never heard or it before, and believed that someone close to him made it up.
"Rest in sleep undisturbed and sweet
Dreams all coming peacefully
I promise not to let them in
The demons of our nightmares..."
Edward walked out wearing an over-sized shirt that he used to sleep in sometimes. He continued to hum and didn't notice that Roy was actually listening to him.
All good things must end
But do not fear, my darling
They'll come again
Once again tonight...
The words had a enchanting fluidity to them that was slowly lulling Roy to sleep. He decided before he fell completely asleep; he would mention it to Ed.
"You have a beautiful voice Edward."
Ed seemed startled as he almost dropped his glass of water before he could set it on the dresser.
"Don't make fun of me."
Roy sat up and began to scoot towards the foot of the bed, "I'm not teasing. You really do have a nice voice."
Edward looked over his shoulder and watched Roy as if making sure he wasn't lying. "I got it from my mother."
"I see... I've never heard that lullaby before, did your mother make it up too?" Roy noticed Edward seemed a bit uncomfortable being asked all the questions about his mother so suddenly, but went ahead and answered.
"Yeah... She used to sing it to me and Al before we went to bed every night, and I could never go to sleep until she did." Edward unbraided his hair and began brushing it.
Roy stood up and walked behind him. Edward continued to brush his hair as if he hadn't noticed, but once he was done he waited for Roy to say something else.
And faithfully, he did. "What about now?"
"I sometimes hum it to myself or sing it when Al goes to sleep." Edward was surprised when Roy slid his arms around his waist and picked him up.
He carried Ed to the bed with ease and then laid him down, "You should teach me the words someday."
Edward rolled over and made sure Roy had enough room to get in before snuggling up to him.
"I don't know... I guess it's just a thing between me and my mother, but I don't think she'd mind if I told you." Edward smiled and kissed Roy softly on the lips.
