It seemed like a good idea at the time.
I mean, anything that is likely to get me killed is what I call a good idea when I'm blind drunk. I'm not really stupid, I swear, alochol just makes me dumb stuff, like fall off bridges, jump over railings and almost getting a huge spike in me, drive people's motorbikes into walls (that one is really stupid, since I can't even drive and can't legally either), repairing someone's hottub, sticking my head down a toilet and getting someone to flush it just to see what would happen.
Of course, drugs have also nearly killed me as well, but those memories...well, I don't like bringing those up, because once I did almost die, I was almost there, but something, or someone pulled me back at the last second.
So, it's hardly suprising that when someone suggested Russian Roulette, I cheered and joined in.
Everyone tells me that I'm going to kill myself and I should calm down. Apart from Damion. He, being ever the bad boy, actually encourages me to do this stuff.
Mainly because then I'd be dead, and wouldn't have a good excuse to avoid him anymore.
Back to the roulette. I offered to go first, just so there was less of the chance I would die. Well, despite the fact I may appear suicidle to those who don't know me well, I just enjoy doing dumb stuff that will almost kill me.
It hasn't. Yet. But one day my luck is bond to run out.
I put the gun next to my head, and prepared to pull the trigger. Some people say you see your entire life flash before you. They're right, and as someone who has almost died more times than you can count on two hands, I've seen the flashing montage of my life many times.
The terrible thing is that the montage gets worse every time I see it. So my life was flashing before me, I could see him, the first time we met, the first time we did everything, the time when I found out his crime, the time he had saved me from dying, and this morning, when he left my flat, kissing me on the cheek, and telling me to be careful.
I squeezed my eyes tight, and pulled the trigger. Nothing.
There was a bullet in the chamber, I found out later, when nobody died in that game. It's fate, it has this way of making sure I stay alive, and somehow it stopped that bullet from coming out of the chamber and going straight into my head.
I can also say that scared the shit out of me, and I've never played it since.
Unfortunely, I've had two more near-death since, and both times Damion had to save me.
I bet that sercetly pisses him off.
