He leans over her futon and presses a kiss to her forehead as she sleeps. He wants to do more, but doesn’t dare, and he prepares to stand, determined to leave.
Instead, she rolls over and her eyes open halfway, blue like the summer sky, and she reaches up and her soft lips meet his innocently, trustingly.
“’Night, Kenshin,” she murmurs sleepily, a soft smile on her face, her arms wrapping about his forearm, pulling the limb down and she burrows her face in it, asleep again.
He never could resist her, not like that.
And he sleeps there, peacefully.
