“Sakano-san, do you ever get jealous?”
Sakano glanced over at his companion before returning his eyes to the road.
“No,” he lied. “Why do you ask?”
“Oh, it’s Kumagoro,” Ryuichi replied, shrugging in an almost nonchalant way. “He’s jealous of Tohma-chan.”
“I see.” Sakano nodded. “And why is that?”
“Because he wants his funny hats.” A pause. “And because you’d do anything for him.”
The car swerved a little and Ryuichi laughed. They rode in silence for a bit until they stopped at a red light. Sakano turned his head to look at Ryuichi and, summoning his courage, leaned over and kissed his cheek. The action earned him a light hum of appreciation and a questioning look.
“I’d do anything for you, too.” Sakano said firmly, despite the fact that his face was turning a light shade of red.
Ryuichi grinned.
“Silly! Kumagoro’s the jealous one, not me!”
“Of course.”
The light turned green and the car began to move again.
