Prompt: # 163 squeak, thanked, scattered
Title: Recital
Word count: 100
Characters from Summer Snapshots, et al
Mice twirled around the stage, all the cuter because the oldest wasn’t even six.
A cat appeared and the little mice scattered with plenty of squeaks.
Only one mouse stood up against the cat. When the cat had that mouse cornered, the other mice ran across the stage as a distraction. But the cat didn’t want to eat the mice, just to play with them.
The dance teacher had removed the gender from all the characters, so Quinton wasn’t the Cat King to Robin’s Mouse Queen.
After the dance ended, the children thanked their teacher with a bouquet of roses.
