"Unbelievable, I'm doing a crossword and I'm stuck already. That hardly ever happens." My mom laughs onthe other end of the line.
"No, honest, I'm supposed to know this." The magazine falls to the floor and I hardly notice.
"I swear I've heard of it before. You wait, once I hear it, I'll think- Oh, I need to get off now."
I hurry out and onto the platform. Someone hands me the magazine and runs away. What's that scrawled on the back? Umami.
Eureka, that's it! "Thanks!" I call, but the footsteps have faded. Behind me, my next train leaves.
