Special Note: The Celestial Spectrum refers to a set of original characters I'm using for RP and writing. They're angels and demons, with a few humans thrown in for good measure, and they've had a miserable life.
"You're in love." They were odd words to hear from the angel Isaiah was supposed to guard, particularly when the two hadn't seen each other for months. He'd expected a show of concern, or perhaps anger for his being gone so long. Hadn't Job explained to Zack just what Isaiah had been forced to do, the way the angel had been geased to slaughter the demons they were beginning to learn were just like themselves? Wasn't Zack, whose lover was a demon himself, angry at his guardian for what he'd done?
But Zack had always been one of the sweet ones, huge eyes holding a wealth of comprehension that Isaiah had never been able to quantify. And now was no different. He dropped down, bowing his head and frowning rather than looking at the broken-winged angel. "I'm not in love."
"Of course you're in love," Zack countered, his lips curving in a smile. "Is it one of us?"
One of us... what did that mean anymore? An angel? A celestial? A betrayed and broken angel, cast out of heaven? What was 'one of us' now?
Zack clarified, seeing the confusion on Isaiah's face. "Did you meet a human, or is it a demon?" he asked softly, his smile gentle. Isaiah almost winced at the question, at what was lacking from it. Perhaps now that they were reunited, he could teach Zack to trust angels once more.
