Cho didn’t expect anything to be different when she woke up on that Monday. In fact, she thought it was going to be somehow worse. Despite the fact that she was going to be starting her job as an Auror, she didn’t feel that it was going to go well.

Maybe it was the greyer than usual morning that greeted her when she opened the window, or the fact that the hot water ran out as she was finishing her shower. Or how she managed to get a run in her last good pair of stockings.

She had to admit that she was surprised when she managed to get to the Ministry on time and was lucky to meet up with both Cedric and Harry as they waited for orientation to begin.

They exchanged quiet hellos and made small talk, first with each other and then with others as they started to arrive. They had just gotten comfortable enough with each other when their supervisors made it on the scene, making all conversation die off abruptly, as if someone had flipped a switch.

Cho swallowed her anxiety and looked at them, knowing full well whom she was going to expect today: Kingsley Shacklebolt, Nymphadora Tonks and Moody. She wasn’t too surprised about that and politely braced herself to listen to the usual newbie speech that was going to be coming.

To her surprise, Shacklebolt launched into a speech, but not the one she expected.

“Today, we’re pleased to announce that Auror Black is going to be joining us…” she tuned out the rest of his words as said Auror Black came forward, his eyes full of humour and strength as he strode forward and looked over all of them.

She tried to look alert and attentive despite the mixed vat of emotions roiling around inside of her at the sudden sight of the famous Auror.

Maybe the signs had been wrong then. Maybe today was going to be interesting after all.

Warnings: Major AU, Introspection, a slight mention of sex and post-coital snuggling.

Sirius watches her sleep, not wanting to disturb her as she lies beside him, her hair covering her face and her back as she lies there. He notices the contrasts between her hair and her skin, the way that the darkness stands out against the pale cream expanse of shoulder, back and hip.

He’s seen this sight time and time again, but it still fills him with wonder whenever he happens to look at her. Especially after an incredible night of lovemaking in the shadowy dimness of the not quite darkness that blanketed the land. Lovemaking that had inevitably bled into the pale light of the morning, which had left her so exhausted she had fallen asleep.

But strangely, he had stayed awake longer and had treated himself to admiring the sight of Cho’s body, as she lay beside him in satiated slumber.

He had always loved her skin, the paleness of it, the texture and the scent of it. The way that it would turn a soft pink after she had reached orgasm. The way that it would fade to pale cream once the tremors finished.

It was a treat for the senses and he was sure that he knew every single inch of her body like he knew his own. He smiled at the thought and was about to close his eyes and let sleep claim him when she shifted slightly in her sleep, revealing a small scattering of freckles on the outside of her arm once the heavy fall of her moves away.

Frowning slightly, he gently brushed a few remaining strands away from her arm and examined the little brushing of brown dots; taking note how they started an inch below her shoulder and ended a bit past her elbow. They were small, barely pinpoints of pigment that in certain lights would have blended in almost too well with the rest of her.

At first, he was offended that he had missed this small, almost insignificant part of her. Well, others would have called it that. To him, they represent another hidden facet of his partner, another discovery that makes her more mysterious and more loveable at the same time.

Sirius can’t help himself and lets his fingers trail the dusting of freckles down her arm. Tracing their path delicately, from shoulder to elbow; all the while hoping that he won’t wake Cho up.

She stirs, but her eyes remain closed, making him give a sigh of satisfaction. He’ll eventually let her know he’s discovered this last bit of uncharted territory, but for now, it’s his secret to keep and wonder over.

Prompt Set: 100.2
Prompt: 100.10-Jealousy

Summary: Despite good intentions, somethings are hard to not want or to get jealous over.
Warnings-Angst, Introspection, slight bitterness

Cho was in the kitchen, getting herself some tea when Ginny, her somewhat friend and somewhat rival, excitedly squealed out her big news to Tonks and Morag, who were also getting some tea or coffee during the office wide break.

“I’m going to have a baby!” Tonks and Morag gushed over her good fortune. Which was a good thing for Cho, since she couldn’t even begin to school her features into a neutral, never mind happy expression. Not when she was feeling like she had gotten a punch in the solar plexus and was also getting the urge to throw up at the same time.

She murmured something when she felt them staring at her and she moved away from the kitchen. She could get a bloody tea afterwards. Right now, she needed a smoke and a way to calm down until she was able to get home and let all of her rage and grief out without anyone being there to hover or to make snide remarks about her emotions.

Cho’s hands went cold at the happy words as she replayed them in her head. Masochistic, she knew that. She also knew that she had to mentally thank fate that she hadn’t been holding her mug of tea when she heard Ginny speak. She was sure that she would have either dropped the full mug onto the tile and made a huge mess of sugared milk tea. Or she would have hurled the scalding contents at Ginny as a pure knee-jerk reaction.

She knew that she wasn’t really being fair to Ginny, despite it seeming like the little bitch got everything so fucken easily.

No.

Cho shook her head. Ginny did have her own share of grievances. Everyone did. Life was never easy…maybe it looked like that, but it wasn’t. People, she knew would say the same thing about her, not realizing that she had to work as hard as the others to get what she wanted and needed.

So even though she knew that, why the hell was she thinking the same thing about Ginny?

Cho pursed her lips and picked up the reports that she had been working on before the break and resumed her task, not caring that she still had some time left on her break. She would leave earlier, she reasoned with herself. She would much rather get that time so that she could go and brood at home rather than sit there and force herself to shut down when the situation was so volatile.

So she gritted her teeth and started working, ignoring everything around her until the pain in both her chest and soul dimmed to the dull throb of grief waiting its course.

Cho went to her small studio flat once work was done. Although there were offers from the other women to go out and celebrate Ginny’s good news, she brushed them aside with as much politeness as she could muster before apparating to her home. She snorted as she looked around the flat. Home, no not really. But it was her refuge from everything else out there and that was good enough for her at that point in time.

Sighing, she looked at the hallway table and tried to not get even more disappointed when she saw no letter from Sirius. She knew what he was like. He could be trusted, but he did everything on his terms and that was that. No one was going to make him change his mind once he had the idea stuck in his head.

“Just when I need you more than ever,” she muttered as she hung her travelling robe on a hook and kicked off her shoes. She shuffled to the kitchen, intent on making that cup of tea that she missed at work, but once she had gotten the kettle filled up, she couldn’t be bothered to heat it up. She idly thought about getting something to eat, but the idea was quickly pushed away when her stomach lurched. No.

Cho sighed and despondently shuffled into her bedroom. Sure, Sirius had his things there, but it was her room most of the time. She lay on the bed and stared at the ceiling, letting the rage and grief and anger that had built up inside of her all afternoon overwhelm her sense.

In minutes, she was curled up in a small ball, her face buried into her pillow as she shrieked her anger and jealousy over Ginny having what she always wanted: a steady, if somewhat boring partner, her dream job and now, a child.  And what did Cho have? A good, but low position on the Auror site, a fly by night lover whom she knew had another woman apart from her…and no child on the horizon. It wasn’t fair. It just wasn’t fair.

So she cried and swore and wished that she hadn’t been so careful when she had been with Sirius. She had only been doing what she had been taught and she knew that she thought she was going to get more chances to have a child, since Sirius promised.

But after four years…she was regretting it. Especially now that her rival had all she wanted and then some. And even though she couldn’t help her jealousy and knew it was pointless to even feel it; it was still there.

And it took her several days to freeze it and store it where no one, not even Sirius himself would ever find it.
