"It's too risky," Remus said to his new bride as they sat together in front of the fire of the flat they now shared. It was their ritual to sit together after dinner and cuddle as the fire died out. Tonight, however, Tonks decided the time was right for them to have the talk about having children. They had been married for almost six months and every time they made love, Remus still insisted on using spells to prevent pregnancy.
Rolling her eyes at her husband, Tonks set down her glass of wine and snuggled further against Remus. "Not it's not, love. I'm ready to be a mother. And I can be careful. Where's the risk?"
"Have you forgotten what I am?" Remus twisted to look straight at her and sighed. "Nymph, darling, I understand how much you want a child. I want one as well. But we don't know how my lycanthropy with affect any child we may have. Not to mention the way going on."
Tonks sighed and stood up, fingering her sweater. "Remus, we can do it. I'll love this baby no matter how your lycanthropy affects it. And the war's nearly over! Voldemort's already been defeated!" Taking a deep breath, she tried to help back the tears threatening to spill down her cheeks.
Seeing this, Remus quickly got up and rushed to his wife's side and tried to soothe her. "I'm sorry, love. I know this means a lot to you. I just want you and any baby we have to be happy and safe. And well, it will be risky, but if you want it so much I say we go for it."
Tonks' eyes lit up and she launched herself at Remus, kissing him deeply before pulling him to their bedroom to start their family.
