Tonks had heard something crash while she was downstairs. Her mother and father were speaking about something in the other room, and she was told to stay downstairs in order to leave the older two alone. After hearing something crash - and it wasn't her fault too! - she had to go investigate. She looked over where her mother and father were before quietly moving up the steps. She fell at least twice before getting fully up the stairs. She moved over to where the guest bedroom was, seeing the door was cracked open. She could see that her cousin was fully dressed, even though his shirt was all askew with not being tucked in right. His pants were also not set right on his body, as if he had dressed in a hurry. Remus Lupin, the real object of curiosity since he came into the house, had no shirt on. She could see all the scars on his chest that went up to his neck. She shivered, for only a moment, and only because she could only think on how horrible it must be for poor Remus. Maybe mother knew something that could help. She would think to ask later. Her attention was drawn back to the room as she heard Sirius talking.
“Its only a few days and you're fine by the way! You don't have to tiptoe around everything just because of your furry little problem,” Sirius said, nearly yelling. “Andromeda let you in, an she knows because I had to tell her! You agreed with me that she had to know. And furthermore, I think this is foolish that you feel that you have to leave.”
“Why should I wait for when I can hurt everybody the most? It doesn't make sense, Sirius. It doesn't,” Remus said quietly. “You're not thinking this through logically.”
“And neither are you and you take great pride in your logic,” Sirius points out. “But this isn't the time for your brand of logic. And its not time for mine either. However, Marauder's logic says that we stick together no matter what. You talking of going off on your own, without even my help through a full moon time is crazy! You don't want to hurt anybody, but you don't need to bite someone to hurt them through your being what you are.”
Remus blinked and looked away, turning his back on Sirius. He threw a shirt into an open duffel bag. The words hurt, even though Sirius didn't mean for them to do so. Remus knew that his best friend was right, but he knew that this was better. He had to push away from them, especially now. “I do not need a friend who changes - “
“Oh stop with the bullshit!” Sirius exclaimed. “I did it for you! We all did it, for you, because we wanted to help our friend who I, at least, think of like a brother instead of all of this shit that you're blowing out of your mouth!”
Remus' shoulders sagged at Sirius' outburst, cringing a bit inside. “I...” he tried to form words, to better explain his viewpoint. He could tell Sirius that his parents were dead with the Dark Mark hanging over the house. He could tell Sirius that the changes were hitting his system harder, but that he could stomach them better on his own. There were many different things he could say, but in the end, he knew that it wouldn't be good enough, really.
Sirius' face softened as he moved and hugged his friend. “I'm sorry,” he said quietly. “Mouth got away with itself.”
Remus chuckled softly, barely audible. “You usually say that.”
“I always mean it as well,” Sirius said quietly and kissed Remus' cheek. “Its nearly time for lunch. Put on a shirt and come down? We'll ask Andy and Ted, and they'll tell you honestly as well. Plus, its their house, so their rules, and they'll say what they want.”
Remus nodded a yes. “I'll do that then. I'll be down in a moment.”
Sirius grinned and let go of the hug. “Don't wait too long or you'll miss out on the food.” He moved out off the room and noticed the young Tonks that tried to scoot out of the way of being seen. He grinned at his youngest cousin and lead her away a bit. “So, how much of that did you hear, 'Dora?” He asked.
“All of it,” Tonks said with a grin. “I wasn't supposed to?”
“Well...” Sirius was about to give an honest answer when he heard the tell-tale pop of apparation behind him in Remus' room. “wait here,” he said as he went back into Remus' room. The duffel bag was gone, but in its place was an article from the Daily Prophet from a few days ago. Sirius picked it up and quickly read it, reading about how Remus' parents were found dead with the Dark Mark over the house. He grabbed the article and walked back out into the hallway. He looked at Tonks and grinned. “Want to go on an adventure?”
“yes!” Tonks said with a grin.
Sirius grinned as he picked up Tonks for a piggyback ride and apparated them to Remus' parent's house.
