The dorm is quiet, scaring James. Sirius isn’t snoring, he has detention. Peter’s loud grumbling sounds can’t be heard, he was on a date with a Hufflepuff bird. The only sounds James could hear was Remus rolling over in his sleep.
“Remus, are you up?” He asks, staring straight up at the red canopy of his bed.
“Shall I compare thee to a summer's day?
Thou art more lovely and more temperate.”
“What?” James says, sitting up in his bed.
“William, I don’t think I can leave right now, I have Transfiguration next,” Remus says, and James can hear him roll over in his bed.
“Nutter,” James whispers to himself, laying back down.

There was a time when Remus thought it was going to last forever; The marauders, youth, Hogwarts.
Then Seventh Year came, and it wasn’t the same. James was with Lily all the time, Sirius was moody because he had no James, and Peter was always off somewhere. It lasted like this till Christmas, when Sirius punched James. Then they were together again, all for one and one for all.
They graduated Hogwarts and became adults. No more pranks and boyish stupidity. They were mature, looking for jobs and places to live. James and Lily married and moved in a flat together. Peter lived with his mum and Sirius made do with the flat he had since before Seventh Year. Remus’s job paid little and his choices to live in were meager.
On Halloween James died, Lily died, Peter died, Harry was taken away, and Sirius was carted off to Azkaban. Remus was all alone in a world that didn’t want to take him.
Now Remus knows nothing lasts forever, nothing.
