Prompt: #85, "Stray"
Word Count: 200 exactly.
Summary: She collects stray things, Luna does.
Warnings: none
Notes: Luna/Theodore, a little double drabble.
She collects stray things, Luna does. The abandoned bottle cap found lying in the dust by the roadside, a dull glint she can polish to silver and blue; the fallen feather from some hawk, a mottled brown later seen peeking from between wavy locks of ash-blonde hair; forgotten mythic beasts and children's tales alluded to with the perfect seriousness of loving faith. The unattractive radish earrings found lying lonely in their discount bin in some hole-in-the-wall shop she frequents; the pointless, senseless tragedies in lost history, hoarded in decrepit books with yellowed parchment beneath her bed; the abandoned note scribbled on someone's old Defense essay that she found on the floor of the Charms hallway- "Meet me at midnight, usual place. D."
Am I just another item on the list? Theodore, the Slytherin who doesn't quite fit; quiet, unnoticed, with no family but my father, who I don't even like. Does it even matter? Luna takes care of all her strays with an overflow of love and abundant affection and all the charming, innocent fondness of a child. And maybe I am one, but I'm a lover to her, too, and that's not the same at all.
