The snow fell heavy that year, immediately after the war. It covered the world in a thick stifling icy white blanket, almost immediately whiting out the past. The bloodied ground was white. The statue on Tom Riddle's (sr.) grave was powdery. The smell of burnt flesh dissipated. The scorch marks on walls and sidewalks disappeared. And Luna cried. She cried everywhere. She felt so alone now, with the marks of the hell she'd survived suddenly gone. She cried to the block of canvas on the wall who merely sneered at her. It reminded her of Prof...Severus' cutting glares and words that became a comfort. The canvas with shaggy hair and Sirius's eyes. The canvas that called her friends filthy and mean and only spoke to her when she was silent.
She needed something of the past, and that frameless piece of canvas was all she had.
