Here we go...

Hi, My name is Niki. I just found this community by following my interests listing. I'm glad I found ya'll. My diet & exercise buddy is starting at less than my goal weight. She's like 140, and my goal, well, its 150. So I need some 'real' dieters to help me out. She's just doing this till our husbands come home from Iraq, and then they'll go back to 'normal'. ugh. I'm doing this to change my life, to be there to see my two boys grow up, and make my husband proud of me. I mean, he can go fight a war in Iraq, but I can't lose some weight? Come on. Anyhow, this is me, and these are my stats of right now...
Starting...285.3lbs
Current....277.4lbs
Goal.......150lbs
Height.....5ft 6in
Age........I'll be 27 in a week.
A little background info I've always been bigger growing up, but I was healthy and active. I played volleyball, I worked on our farm, did a bit of cross country skiing, and played softball. My junior year of high school I quit playing sports, rebeled a bit, started doing things I wasn't supposed to which lead to the munchies. I then went to college and gained the freshman 15 plus some. Got married in 99, and have had two kids. Both by c-section. hhmm, oh, I blew out my knee, and have mild arthritis in both. Living on a farm, everything was fried or smuthered in butter or gravy. Gotta love that! We didn't eat salad unless it was on top of a hamburger or mixed with taco meat. Red meat galore, along with lots of pork. Thats what we made some of our living off of, so who was I to knock it then? Growing up we had one freezer with a whole cow in it and then an upright freezer full of hog. Thats what dad called our 'home grown food section'. We had taters at every meal. Man I love me some taters. But now that I've been out on my own and taking care of our family, things have changed. I'm not as active, was still eating the crap, and watching myself get bigger and bigger. Until now. I've nixed all taters, any soda other than Diet Rite, drink tons of water, and have acquired a Gazelle. I'm doing 2 miles a day on it, at least. I don't eat red meat, unless I have met my goal for the month, and it has to be a lean cut of steak about the size of my fist. I eat lots of fish (I love salmon), and poultry. I do make myself a burger now and then, but I use turkey meat instead of hamburger. My killer is pasta, breads, and chocolate. Oh man, I said it. Chocolate!!! I'm getting better at all of them, but I just need a better variety of foods. Plus, I have to think about my two boys. They are both picky, and won't eat anything green right now. ugh! I'm always making more than one type of meal and it gets really old. Thankfully I did get my 6 year old to eat salmon and now he loves it! So anyhow, I'm glad I found this place. I've rambled way too much. Its noon and I need to get on the gazelle why my little one naps.
