From what I've been hearing plateaus are normal but don't usually last this long. In my poor body's defense, I was sick twice in December and January and put it through a barrage of dietary strife over Christmas & New Years.

When I started working out I was a little fanatical about it. I would go 5 days a week like I am now, but if I was bored I'd hit the gym again in the evening and do one of their classes (the bosu ones are fun) or just get on the treadmill. I'd also make sure I got to the gym one of the two weekend days.

Maybe it's time to kick that back into gear. I didn't mind it much. It would make starting up on Monday easier if I didn't take two full days of rest. As long as I stayed away from the weights that should be cool. Hmm.

Supplements can also help you break through plateaus, when it seems like you're doing everything "right."

I'd talk to the people at your gym (assuming it's a commercial gym and not a school gym or the Y) and see what they recommend. There's a TON of stuff out there depending on what your particular needs are.

My needs are that I need lots of energy and something to help suppress my appetite a bit. I'm taking Metabolife, which is supposed to boost energy and help keep you from getting too terribly hungry -- I don't know that it's working terribly well, and I may end up moving to something else.

I've heard good things about Apex Fitness and also EAS Nutrition. Both EAS and Apex are fitness-oriented, not weight loss-oriented, which I think is a very good thing. Most likely, when I end up using up the rest of the Metabolife, I'm going to move to using something from one of these companies. Browsing both websites here is pretty valuable, IMO -- lots of great fitness info even if you decide not to use their products. As a matter of fact, EAS's 52 week fitness program is looking really attractive to me, and I'm going to contact them and ( ... )

I've tried Metabolife at one point and most recently it was Xenadrine. The main purpose was to get my lazy ass out of bed but after a while I didn't need them anymore.

I have a couple EAS protein bars. I'll have to hit up the guys at the gym and see what they recommend.
