Kayl pressed her ear to his clothed chest; inwardly, she let out a sigh of relief when he didn't awaken.
Raz had once told her that a dragon's hear was more complicated and so much different than a human's.
"What's so special about it?" Kayl asked, pouting childishly as she leaned on her hands.
"Dragon's cannot die until their hearts are destroyed. They can be ripped from their bodies but as long as they are intact, we shall live on."
"Ewww," Kayl stuck her tongue out in disgust as Raz quirked an eyebrow. "Your heart still beats even after it's been ripped from all those veins and arteries?"
Raz threw his head back and let out a chuckle. "Our hearts are not made of flesh like a yours."
Kayl titled her head in confusion. "Then, if they're not made out of flesh, then what exactly are they made of?"
"Our hearts," Raz stated, placing a hand on his chest. Kayl uttered a gasp of surprise when his hand started to glow red. "Are crystals."
Kayl closed her eyes as a pleasant sound rang in her ears. A slow but steady beat echoed around her. Even if their hearts weren't the same, both of them had their own heartbeats.
