She sashayed over to Paul’s desk, fondly brushing his hair out of his eyes, gently kissing him. The show was over and Caroline seemed very pleased to have beaten her dear husband. Ian sat there. Paul got up and put a protective arm around her waist, leading her back to his dressing room. Ian followed at a distance, watching Paul bobbing his head to her height, laughing at her jokes, her dirty giggle at full volume. They walked into the dressing room and the door slammed. Ian listened. They were laughing together. Ian wished it were him instead of her.
