This is a great introspective piece. I love the flow and the feelings come across well, including the regret. Great job!

Thank you, it took a while to write, but I'm glad the fic "moves" through time well.

Yay for pieces about grandfathers. ^_^ I liked this a lot. I've always been fond of your take on the various Hikago characters, and I'm certainly not disappointed with your take on Hikaru's grandfather. I rather liked it. *grin* You gave him a lot of depth with this which I appreciate greatly.

This somehow puts me on edge for the next part of Brightly Burning, though. I want it, but I've got patience enough to last, I think. ^_^

I have a thing for minor characters, really I do. I think his grandfather is GREAT to play with, since he's quite responsible for what happens to Hikaru in a sense.

Working on the next section of BB. I had to do some rewriting (if you're part of divatales you'll see a section I cut from it).

Hmmm...

I thought Shindou's grandpa was Mitsuko's father? And there was a mention in the anime and manga revealing a conversation where Hikaru's grandfather asked Shindou if he wanted to see a Japanese play with him and his grandmother, so the grandmother's not dead either.

Not canon I guess, but the introspective piece was well-written, and I enjoyed it greatly. I almost wish that it did follow the timeline you set, as it's very interesting and reveting. Much love to all your fics.

I was under that impression, too, but since his given name is "Shindou Heihachi" from what I've found, it seems he's Masao's. It's possible Mitsuko calls Heihachi "otousan" out of respect.

I'm not sure about Heichachi's wife. I never really looked that closely to the manga, but I decided I'd like her to be a Nagasaki survivor. I read a bunch on it back when they were doing all the 60th anniversary pieces. That was one of the things that inspired this fic, actually.

Glad you enjoyed it!

Gosh, this is brilliant. You really have a way of bringing these side characters to life. All the subtleties about how Heihachi related to his son and wife and daughter-in-law and, finally, Hikaru--I always admire your ability to think out all these relationships among your characters and make them seem real. Loved reading this very much!

I have such an addiction to playing with minor characters... it's because there's no one who can really contradict any spin you take, because fanon isn't as set.

I do a lot with relationships, since that's the most important thing in a person's life.

Lovely for the way you explore Heihachi's feelings towards Go and his family.
