"Drop your weapon!" Woody's voice is filled with fear and he hates how little self-confident he can pull right now. He should act professional. He's a cop after all. But when things get personal, when friends are involved he can't just be professional. He's a person then, not a cop. A human being, not a machine. He has feelings, fears ... and seeing Jordan being held at gunpoint is too much for him to bear.
Yes, it was her fault that they're in big trouble now. She shouldn't have followed him. He told her to stay in the car and she didn't listen to him. She never does.
But being shot isn't the punishment she (or anyone else) should get.
"Drop the gun!" he shouts one last time, and after ten more seconds he pulls the trigger, not missing his target.
Woody Hoyt is a person, a human being with feelings, fears. But he's also a cop. A good one.
"That was a close call," Jordan says, looking down at the dead guy. Then she turns to Woody, smiling.
His expression is blank. There's no need to keep showing her how shaky he is. She doesn't need to know everything.
