"Hey, Lucas?" Jacob asked, shifting to his stomach to slowly stretch out in catlike grace. Hair the color of pale sage tumbled into his eyes, and he chuckled when a darker hand lifted to brush it away. "Are you coming back over tonight?" He nuzzled into that hand, liking the way the delicate fingers traced his skin before falling away lazily. When that was done, Jacob rose, stretching his arms over his head and unabashedly displaying his nudity. Marks still covered his body from the night's sex, a tale-tell scratch here and hickey there, and Jacob liked that Lucas watched him for a moment before hmph-ing and shifting to burrow under the pillows again. Black braids spread out against the steel-colored sheets, drawing Jacob back to the bed to curl up beside Lucas. He picked up one of the braids, toying with it as his body aligned against Lucas' and soaked in the body-warmth. "You're sexy when you're huffy," he added, voice soft but cheerful.
Lucas shifted finally, moving to his back to stare up at Jacob with darkened eyes. "Not coming over tonight, no," he murmured after a moment. "You'll be busy." Jacob fought a sigh, batting away the hand that had come to rest against his chest, just over the faintly lingering pain he'd been feeling. They might've been friends for years, but he was still nowhere close to understanding Lucas' uncanny intuition about him.
Pouting a little, Jacob draped atop him. "I'll miss you. It's boring to be on my own at night." Lucas' arms both lifted, combing through the pale green silk of Jacob's hair. "Are you gonna cheat on me?" Still pouty, now accusatory. And Lucas, saint that he was, merely took it in stride.
"No, Jacob. You're going to cheat on me." Before Jacob could demand to know what that meant, Lucas was moving on. "But it's okay. I know you can't be exclusive to me." A pause, as Jacob's face turned progressive shades of red. And then Lucas pulled away, sitting up on the bed and glancing back at Jacob. "It is too much to ask of you, after all."
Jacob scowled darkly, reaching out before he thought and shoving Lucas hard enough to send him off the bed. The wiry man hit the floor with his knees, wincing slightly as they scraped before looking up at Jacob, his gold-tipped braids dangling in his eyes. Jacob stood over him a minute, hurt and anger warring in his eyes before he dropped down beside Lucas, reaching gently to touch the wounded skin. He opened his mouth to speak, but Lucas leaned in, kissing him lightly. "When it's all clear, you'll understand... and you'll be happy," he whispered, against Jacob's lower lip, his body shifting to nestle against Jacob's. "Right now, you're at war with yourself. And... you don't really realize it."
What could he say to that, really? Jacob held him close, aching at the small scrapes on Lucas' knees and the gentle way the darker man looked at him. There was understanding in those dark eyes, and forgiveness. Jacob frowned, nestling closer to Lucas and closing his own eyes as though that might shut out the world for a little while.
"If you say so..."
