31. - suspended
This is the Sky Screamer at Marineland in Niagara Falls, Ontario, where my family and I went yesterday. My kids and my husband went on this ride, twice; even taking photos of it made my knees turn to jelly. It's the world's highest tower ride at 450 feet tall, and travels up and down at 96 km/h [60 mph].
45. - curve
I wish there was more colour in the sky in this photo of one of the double loops in Marineland's Dragon Mountain Roller Coaster. There is another, smaller set of double loops that can be seen at the bottom centre of the photo, and a lot of the track is also visible. It is the world's longest roller coaster ride, and is another thrill ride that my family had to enjoy without me!
47. - whirl
This one is called the Topple Tower ride and none of us went on it. However, it seemed the perfect candidate for the 'whirl' prompt. I edited the photo a bit; using some colour technique I've forgotten the name of to make the ride look a little vintage, and then adding a focal blur to add some motion to the shot.
54. - decorative
Canada is a young country and there are very few places where one can see buildings that rival the beautiful estates and castles that dot the landscapes of the U.K. and Europe. It was a surprise to come around a corner at Marineland and find this pretend-castle peering out between the leaves; the castle may not have been real but it was decorative and my pleasure in seeing it was very real indeed!
75. - view
My favourite part of the day was watching the trained orca [also known as a killer whale] splash and jump to the instructions of his trainer. He was a gorgeous creature and seeing him near to hand was a great privilege. The photo is not because I've zoomed in with my camera; the orca was actually as close as he appears, and seemed gentle and interested in all of us who viewed him.
