Planned or improvised?

Question: When you guys are filling out this list, do you go out with your list in hand or otherwise set up shots to complete your lists? Or do you go out, take random photos (maybe with some of the words in your head) and otherwise see if the photos align with some of the words?

I find myself doing the latter, but I was curious as to how you all did it. :)
