Man Wolf Fish sounds like a strong rival for Man Bear Pig. I've been catching up with the last year and a half of South Park lately, those guys are still brilliant.
That's a good point about Slayers. A lot of my friends know about it/have seen it, and the average anime fan does seem at least familiar with it, but there's very little out there. I think that may have something to do with it having very little official merchandise or recent hype - it was more popular back when all anime was more, eh, underground I guess.
I'd imagine the guy looking at the ero stuff is already a bit withdrawn from society. You add in having to look over the material in person, in a crowd, with the person that made it (who is female) sitting in front of him and - well, it's a wonder to me that any of that stuff ever sells at cons. Some people are really open about whatever weird thing they're into and you can get away with that at a con, but for a lot of people I imagine it'd be very difficult to do. We have people in the fighting game crowd that describe physical pain with their social anxiety.
