Challenge #298 - Power

.

Koumyou looked at the boy without smiling.  He feared the strength of his unwanted power over this glowering, blond child.

He would have liked to have denied any karmic connexion between them.  For, if he had power over the boy, the boy inevitably had a power over him.  And that was a weakness, an unpower, which the forces against him could exploit ( Read more... )

Glad you liked the idea. I am still probing the uneasier corners of koumyou - I find it hard to create tension with somebody so persisently serene!

Thanks for taking a look.

What a strong, multifacted expression of Koumyou. Beautiful. Thanks for sharing!

Thank you - I've had a month or so of not wanting to write and, suddenly, in a weekend of public party fever, the ink stirs but in the hue of frankincense and myrrh. Goodness knows what that muse has been up to!

I know I've missed a lot of writing on this 100RTs comm - when I have a bit of spare time, I'll be catching up with reading the back entries. Maybe that'll give me a few more ideas. Hope so!

Thank you for this excellent drabble, about an unsmiling Koumyou very ic. It's all good, and what an ending!

Koumyou gets so lofty and elevated I imagine he must have "seen" his end in this lifecycle - which makes his continued unruffled treatment of kouryuu all the more poignant. He's a complex person to scope - so advanced in adult "maturity" (opposite of immature, I mean) that he seems to be a child...

I'm pleased that you enjoyed this rather un-sweet piece.

A heavy piece. I really like it. I like the idea that Koumyou had some sort of foreknowledge of his fate. This drabble goes along well with the other Koumyou one you wrote not long ago. I find Koumyou a tricky character to get a handle on, so I enjoy your exploration.

I'm sure that koumyou "sees" into the future; that's probably one reason why he seems so spaced out all the time. e.g. the "what else but potatoes?" moments!

Koumyou has fascinates me both for being elusive character-wise (I agree with you there) and for being the object of the unattainable Sanzo's steadfast affection (equally elusive there, it seems!). The solution must be in the relationship between them somewhere, I think, but it sure plays hard to get!

a powerful read, no pun intended.

Komyou's strength and knowledge of his influence over little Koryuu is intense.

thank you.

I'm pleased that you liked the idea there. Koumyou is kind of "all-seeing" so I find that there are onion-layers to him which make good fic material, except that it's hard to know when to stop "peeling"!

Thanks for reading and for leaving a comment. I'm behind with my reading on this comm, I know, so I'll be back when I have a minute to spare.
