Title: Dreaming in Color
Words: 100
Spoilers: A smidge, about Goku's past.
Notes: They say some people dream in color, but what colors do they dream in?

Sweet dreams were yellow, light and floating, above the shadowy void that was the waking reality. Those happy dreams were like sunlight.

Dreamless sleeps were blue, blank spaces. All he ever remembered was the navy and cerulean, shadowed colors that almost formed some kind of dream, almost told some kind of story, but in the end, didn’t.

Nightmares were red, two-toned pain that blossomed behind his closed eyelids like shocks. He saw half-faded images of his friends being hurt, as he watched on, helpless. He saw half-formed memories of his time in that prison…

Goku never liked the color red.

Title: Memories of Cloth
Words: 100
Spoilers: Chin Yisou arc.
Notes: Sequel to Laundry, Interrupted.

The tough, dark fabric needs mending badly, holes opening up at the knees, where it has skidded along hard earth and stones so many times. Blood stains the edges, from skinned knees and cuts.

The shirt is another matter entirely, white and just covered with rust-colored stains. No matter how often it’s washed, the stains never come out. Every one is a memory. The strongest comes from the hole near his heart, a tear in the fabric that he knows Hakkai doesn’t like to see. Sanzo pretends not to notice it, but…

Hence, the blue shirt goes over the white.

Title: Handle With Care
Words: 100
Spoilers: None
Notes: Sequel to "Memories of a Cloth".

The shirt’s condition varies. Parts of it are white, and show the dark-red stains all the easier, where the dark parts conceal them. Whatever can be done with it usually is, short of bleaching it into the next century. There are rips near the sleeves, where grasping hands have pulled at the cloth.

The brighter fabric cape is in worse condition, fraying at the edges and developing holes from being caught by tree branches and opponent’s weapons too many times. The pants are in a similar state of wear-and-tear.

He should be more careful, but he never really cared to.

Title: Use as Directed
Words: 109 (sorry *cringe*)
Spoilers: None
Notes: Sequel to "Handle With Care".

The dark fabric hides the marks, and even conceals the lasting scars of old mending jobs, thin black thread criss-crossing in and out of green. The shirt had been mended as often as his heart had been broken, over and over again, the hard battles necessitating such attention. Blood-stains could be washed out, but tears needed to be stitched.

The white cloth that goes from shoulder to waist is also in constant need of repair, bleached senseless whenever he could find the time. He likes to think that making it that pure white will somehow help his own tainted soul.

It never works, not even in his own mind.
