Heyo!
Just got back from watching the forbidden kingdom!!! ::woot:: Despite a bad start, after getting there early and waiting in line (i was first) this group of about 8 punks decided to just bypass us. Of course me, being the pushover that I am, tried to step in front of them and stop them, but they just pushed past me! How RUDE!!!! anyways, on to the review <3

Overall I thought that Jet Li did an amazing job at portraying Sun Wu Kong, someone that I grew up with. I also really appreciated all the myth-checking, folklore, popular fiction, etc that they did. The best description is what the script-writer says, "it is a journey of the west into the east". The action scenes were amazing, esp. between Jackie Chan and Jet Li. Really it was an action movie, by no means trying to compete with Crouching Tiger or Hero. It was a fun movie, with tons of very good action sequences. The character of Golden Sparrow is probably one that fares better in Asian markets, her odd form of speech is better in Chinese, and she isn't forced to muddle through english. Overall I do feel that it was a little to kung fu movie kitchy, and some of the directing i think was too cartoony for me, the myths were portrayed more like a "okay, okay well its what its like", not really with a loving hand. Oh wells :D woot for the movie though. Watch it for the action, don't expect any brilliant plot, or brilliant twists. The kung fu is amazing though! Total credit to Yuen Wo Ping, Jet Li, and Jackie Chan! They don't let down. :D
