Day 6
Day 06 - Favorite super hero and why
I've been waiting for this day to write this answer down. My favorite super hero is Spider-man (yes, there is a hyphen in his name). For as long as I can remember, Spidey was always my favorite. At first, it was because I always watched the cartoon and loved his humor, but as I grew up, there is so much more that I related to with Spidey than other super heroes.
Peter Parker is a nerd, awkward, and never really found his place amongst his peers in high school, and to some extent, even in college. Who else has never felt like that before? But he loved his family and kept on with a good head on his shoulders, in contrast to his eventual best friend Harry Osbourne, who had the world at his disposal, but fosters resentment and anger throughout his story.
I also like Spider-man because of his relationship with Mary Jane. First, unrequited love that came back after tragedy of losing your first love. I relate to Mary Jane as well: the insecurities hiding behind a party girl exterior, plus trying to achieve dreams and falling short. My favorite aspect of MJ though (besides her red hair) is her tenacity and strength to stand by her man despite the dangers and hardships they face because he is Spider-man. Of course the "One More Day" storyline killed me, but it was still beautiful in the name of love. Sigh.
